Some plumbing basics to get your week started. If you are adding one or two fixtures, the simplest way to avoid groundwork costs is to use a pump that can mount on the floor and discharge to a pipe that is above ground. Remove a whole trade from the budget!

#SiteUnseen when you penetrate a fire rated floor or wall, you have to preserve the rating of the assembly. Here is an example of a fire damper on a fresh air duct into an apartment through a one hour rated wall. Notice the access being provided on the underside of the duct.

We spend exorbitant amounts of money on HVAC to try and defeat the sun but HVAC will always lose that battle. Awnings like this make it possible to enjoy the natural light without turning into a sauna inside.
