@brivael If the Dems take SpaceX, Elon will move to China to complete his mission to Mars. The Chinese are already copying him so it wouldn't take long for Elon to catch them up and pass the US government run SpaceX.

SpaceX has higher upside but more risk. 1) Elon key man risk (dies, leaves as Dems try to imprison him) has more impact on SpaceX and combined company than just Tesla, 2) Disaster risk - (starship crashes killing a lot of people, Tesla self driving or Optimus kills people) - we are just adding more risks in a single company now, and 3) Endless capital risk - higher for SpaceX. I'd rather keep my investments separate and decide my own risk/reward balance.
@Bullcrapwork @brivael That is not true - i've been trying to explain to you that if Elon is found (in a non-partisan way) to have committed a crime, he should be prosecuted - what part of that don't you understand? This is becoming a useless discussion - suggest we stop.
If legitimately found to have engaged in criminal behavior he should be prosecuted in a non-partisan jurisdiction (not DC). It still doesn't change the outcome - I predict he will leave before that to complete his mission to Mars. It is more likely the Dems will try to nationalize SpaceX since they won't likely find any proveable criminal behavior and he will then go to China to complete his mission. I don't understand why you think I believe Elon should not be prosecuted if he truly has done something illegal? I've never said that.

I prefer to keep the two separate so I can manage/balance the different risks and the differing upsides. I don't see a compelling synergy benefit. I like the huge upside of my SpaceX holdings but not the risks : 1) Long term capital requirements, 2) Disaster (i.e. Starship crash), and 3) Elon risk (SpaceX will not reach expectations without him). Tesla has very good upside, but less risk on all 3 categories. Why bundle these risks into one company? Is anyone else thinking about this?

There is a finite chance that once Musk finds that the US is a Democrat totalitarian country, he will choose to abandon SpaceX/Tesla (US/Germany) and move to China to complete his mission of making humans interplanetary. China values merit and with Elon could duplicate SpaceX quickly. A Democrat totalitarian US will not value merit and will likely try to imprison Elon and confiscate SpaceX. This could happen before 2030 if the Dems sweep the 2028 elections.
