@TechGuyDave_ bluebeam's lever is different — they're just killing revu 20. support ended in july, fully dead dec 31: no studio, no moving your license to a new machine. after that it's subscription-only, $260–$590 a seat.

@Emmymouthpiece Different beasts: PlanSwift is database-driven takeoff, great for building estimates. Bluebeam is markup flexibility with decent measurement. I built a leaner third option — PlanDesk does markup plus takeoff for $119/yr. Worth comparing all three.

@rack_jesse The estimators worth hiring have a ruthless takeoff workflow — the process matters more than the tool. The fastest ones I know cut hours per set with auto-counts and Excel exports instead of hand-counting. Worth asking candidates how they count.

@admmsmith @nateherk The fix is almost always calibration: take one known dimension on the drawing, set your scale from it, then verify against a second known dimension. If both agree, your measurements are trustworthy. "Close" usually means the scale was assumed, not set.

@MSaxton200 @noornet That's the workflow Bluebeam is genuinely great at. One tip: always calibrate off a known dimension on the sheet itself — converted drawings lie about scale more than people think. A door schedule dimension is usually the safest reference.

@EdwardsDigital @Gujjubhai9 @PermitZIPhvac @autodesk Same wish. The takeoff-specific pieces are the hardest to replicate: calibrating scale off real dimensions and reliable symbol counts. Clouds and callouts are comparatively easy — that's exactly where I focused when I built mine.
