@JohnofSussex @DeathbyCeltics @TheStalwart Markets existed before capitalism including forms where people were broadly free to buy and sell and allocate capital. Just look at the life of Crassus in Ancient Rome and he was doing exactly what you described, but capitalism didn’t exist yet

She said “who I don’t like very much but also don’t hate.” On a scale of 1 - 10 where 5 is true neutral and 10 is in love, that reads to me like a 3. Dislikes them more than likes them, but they’re not a 1 and hated

@Andrew_Semenza @philhchen Fair enough! Unfortunately for those people, it being potentially dangerous and thus deserving of smart regulation is just true on the merits. I think it’s better for the people building the dangerous thing to ask for regulation than to lie about or downplay its danger

@curiousgangsta @hamandcheese Their proposed policy was not implemented here. They have consistently called for regulations which are “transparent, fair, clear, and grounded in technical facts” and this policy is none of those things, let alone all of them.

If AI development continues apace, then they should all be at Fable 5 level within months to a year, meaning by this policy’s logic they should be shut down too. That won’t happen though because this is arbitrary punishment

@sathaxe @thinbluesublime @ArmandDoma I watched the full video. He claims that housing has nothing to do with homelessness. This is false. The price of housing (and CoL in general) is the #1 correlate with homelessness. Drug addiction need to be addressed, but to do so without building housing accomplishes nothing
