Last week, a 20-year-old Oklahoma woman was convicted of manslaughter for experiencing a miscarriage at 17 weeks and sentenced to 4 years in state prison. (1/2) kswo.com/2021/10/05/wom…
This case is a tragedy. Not only has this woman suffered the trauma of pregnancy loss, she was jailed during COVID & convicted of a crime without basis in law or science. @NAPW How did THAT happen on your watch? Don’t you have lawyers? What’s the next step?
@NAPW JFC! This is not okay!! What can we do? Isn't there anything to be done for her???
@NAPW The fact that she's been jailed for this vs. receiving help for addiction and other social supports is monstrous
@NAPW This is insanity and we talk about how horrible women are treated in other countries when this kind of “miscarriage“ of justice is going on in America!
@NAPW Though the circumstances of the miscarriage are morally wrong, the *intent* to do harm to the fetus wasn't really proven nor do I believe it was there. This is a dangerous precedent being set. I don't understand what 4 years in prison is going to accomplish.
