"For no reason" I used to take my team out to a brazilian all-you-can-eat steakhouse every month. It was great, one of my favorite restaurants of all time, and everyone else loved it too. We'd eat so much meat everytime that we felt like our hearts were gonna stop. Then one day I had an indian guy thrust into our team by the hiring department. And as usual that month, i took my team, including the new indian guy, out to the restaurant. The next day, I got a call from HR asking if I took my team to a steakhouse. I said yeah, we do it every month. They said i cant do it anymore because the indian guy complained. It wasnt that there was nothing for him to eat, obviously im not that big of an asshole that i'd take my team somewhere that one of them cant eat, thats terrible for morale. They had plenty of vegetarian options for him. The problem was that he was a hindu so he didnt like seeing people eat cows. He said it was offensive and that we'd done it on purpose to harass him. So one indian guy ruined a team tradition we'd been doing for 8 years, long before he got there, just by claiming "discrimination". Why? Because he was totally and completely culturally incompatible with us and should have never been allowed in the fucking country. Shit like that is why i hate indians, not "for no reason", mr "weinstein".

Some may have heard the news of the fire at the Eagle’s Nest in Berchtesgaden. Yes, this was Hitler’s mountaintop tea house (which he only visited a handful of times). But it was also a symbol of Allied victory. American soldiers left their mark there. They took victorious photos there. They took souvenirs from there. Early reports indicated that an arsonist was responsible. Kind of getting tired of unhinged people defacing and destroying historic sites.

There is a race war brewing on X between east Asians vs black people. Japanese and Korean people are teaming up against black people to call out how they haven't developed anything despite not being bombed by atomic weapons. Meanwhile the black people are crashing out on X because they are being called out and yet they have no response other than to call them racists. It's ironic. The more the world is brought together with real time translations etc the more the world recognizes that certain groups of people are clearly superior to others. Not just in online decorum but also in the kinds of insults they fling at each other... And clearly one side is winning, as the other side resort to using the magic words and calling them 'trash' for noticing patterns.

It’s hard to comprehend fighting something off for nearly a decade of your life. To defend the land your parents farmed, where they’re buried. To defend the wildlife and the water, the wetlands and the floodplains. That’s what the people of Copake, NY did. And it’s finally over. The Shepherd’s Run Solar permit was officially denied. Are there avenues that would allow a solar company to try this again? Of course. But what I’ve learned in this ORES battle is that you must pause and celebrate the wins along the way. You have to. Or else the bureaucratic hopelessness will swallow you whole. And it’s swallowed a lot of Upstaters whole for many years. But not anymore. If you can fight off feeling hopeless wherever you are, you’d be surprised what change you can impact when you decide to lay it all down to protect your rural town or village. Keep the pressure on. It’s working.
