The lack of a Cherry station on the Ontario Line to serve Villiers island is such a classic case of us planning transit for a version of Toronto 10 years in the past, when we should be thinking 10+ years into the future.
Metrolinx: "It's fine! The distillery district and west don lands will be served by Corktown and East Harbour stations!" Me: "But what about Villiers Island?" Metrolinx: "What's that?"
@RM_Transit We never plan our transit with our future housing. That is why our transit so expensive and our housing is always short.
@RM_Transit Yes I wish they were planning already a phase 2 and 3 for this line. It’s take so much time in Canada to get project started would be good to have all the ground work done.
@RM_Transit I'm 100% certain there isnt a stop there because the tunnel will still be diving down at that point, the portal isnt far from there
@RM_Transit We’ve come a long way from building metro tracks into the PE Viaduct a half century before the metro system existed
@RM_Transit even if we weren't planning for the future, the distillery district and loop would be right there!! it makes no sense to just run it past a pretty decent tourist area and event space
@RM_Transit said that decades ago when that toonerville trolley instead of a full subway line was run down Spadina.
