Brought cows in from bale grazing yesterday to get ready to sort them for calving. Due dates start in two weeks. Cows had a great fall and are carrying some condition. Here’s wishing best of luck for the coming calving season. Always an exciting time.

Incident report. We were semen testing bulls and Michelle was holding a post behind a bull and when the bull moved back her finger was in a pinch point. Luckily just the finger tip was in between, unluckily the finger tip got crushed. Gonna be sore. Be careful folks!!

Winter water system success. It needs a better insulated lid because my float keeps@freezing up, but that’s really only been an issue the last few days. The 24v wind turbine has really made it a nearly trouble free system to water 190 cows for the last two months. #kellnsolar

Gelbvieh Sale bulls are starting to get onto the whole oats and seem to be gaining well. We feed our bulls whole oats and free choice alfalfa hay. We’ve found that growing them at a reasonable pace lends to good longevity. #gelbvieh #beyondgolden
