The most damaging yet common experiences of why people isolate after experiencing trauma: 1). They weren't believed when they spoke up. 2). People openly protected/befriended their perpetrator. You weren't meant to say it differently. They were meant to respond differently.

People who grew up in big families sharing bathrooms, bedrooms, & general living space w/ lots of different personalities are likely functioning better today. We didn’t know @ “safe spaces” because lurking around every corner was a sibling who pushed your buttons. It was life.
