The Bible's current chapter system is traditionally attributed to Stephen Langton, but after studying further on the issue, scholars are pretty convinced that he didn't "create" the chapter system, but participated in a long process and promoted their use

the NOMINA SACRA were abbreviated words found in ancient manuscripts, seemingly used to highlight and emphasize divine referents like God, Jesus, Christ, Lord, and Spirit
