Imagine how much time academics would save if every funder & institution worldwide agreed to the same format for a CV? We could even put those saved hours toward, oh i don't know, actual research or teaching perhaps?
@Richard_D_Riley They do say: “Sell the sizzle, not the steak.” With humanity, it’s all about selling the sizzle. If it were about selling the steak, we wouldn’t be up to our eyeballs into unsolved problems. Or creating more problems for us to solve. Signed: Too old to be an optimist
@Richard_D_Riley I can't even imagine
@Richard_D_Riley @ChristosArgyrop Next thing you know they'll ask for the same format for references in papers 🙄
@Richard_D_Riley Oh that would save so much headache.
@Richard_D_Riley "We could even put those saved hours toward..." ...compulsory fire training courses.😉
@Richard_D_Riley I suspect it would take more time to get a worldwide agreement on CV formats than to quickly edit one's CV and submit it to "get funded and move on". By the way, are all funders more interested in saving researchers' time or their own time & money? That is the question!
@Richard_D_Riley I dont understand at all why there is no leading XML or json standard for CV's...
@Richard_D_Riley Not sure why these formatting requirements exist in academia while industry does just fine without them. Apparently the same issue all over the world
@Richard_D_Riley I knew a guy who got a law interview with a CV which, when opened, erected a pop up picture of himself...
