Cass: warning - risk of irreversible harm to children. ScotGov: sure, but it’s awfy long. Oh, and English. So addressing that risk of *irreversible harm children* will have to wait. 🤷♂️

@RoddyQC Surely this should be a qualified medics decision and not a political decision?
@RoddyQC @Lesleygsmith3 You do realise that the UK has one of the highest child poverty levels in Europe. If that's not harming, then what is? To be honest, I don't know much about CASS but I do know my kids have a lot of crap coming to them and puberty blockers isn't their biggest.
@RoddyQC At what point does a Govt reach a threshold of negligence by inaction/causing harm by not protecting citizens, that can be prosecuted, either criminal or civil?
@RoddyQC This leads to the red mist descending; I know that social workers and children’s panel reporters regularly affirmed trans children and teenagers and vilified parents who suggested caution. The ideology took root and cowards enabled that. It’s well past time for truth to prevail.
Warning - SSRIs can cause irreversible harm to children. Few people know this, but common antidepressants can cause a syndrome known as Post-SSRI Sexual Dysfunction (#PSSD). The government has failed to take this seriously and barely even warns patients. x.com/PSSDNetwork/st…

The problem is that this was introduced, and mainly fuelled, by the social sciences. Many of which are on shaky ground to start with. There is consensus that "intervention" has a positive psychological impact on adolescents with gender dysphoria. Setting aside the questionable methodologies of many of these studies, for those who consider gender to be a social construct and subjectively determined by an individual's psychology, this was all the ammunition they needed to go charging on with interventions like pubertal suppression. Of course, pubertal suppression has far wider effects on the body, and even if it does have positive psychological outcomes, that does not negate the very concerning and completely understood negative outcomes they can have on physiology. For example, puberty is a critical time for brain development. We know that the amygdala and hippocampus increase in volume over puberty. We know Puberty-related hormones have wide-ranging effects on brain structure, function, and connectivity. We know neuropsychological impacts of puberty blockers are complex and often sex-specific, and there is no evidence that cognitive effects are fully reversible following discontinuation of treatment. This is a good read on the subject... accpjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10… Interestingly, like many who question the current consensus, one of their conclusions is "In summary, we believe the authors' review does not present a balanced assessment of the evidence and betrays a bias toward uncritically promoting medical transition.
