A student took time out of his lunch today to FaceTime a former student and hold the phone up to the camera so he could surprise me and say hi. I miss their faces so much! 😭

Today was Face Mask Friday for my virtual learners! We've been loving pet show and tell, but today we showed off our favorite face masks.

Shout out to all of the parents, "second moms," various family members, friends, and all of the other helpers who are doing what they can to help our students be successful in virtual learning. It really does take a village! I see you!

I wasn't sure what the first class would look like... virtual learning at 8am? Well, THEY ALL SHOWED UP! Was it a little awkward? Yes. But we'll get the hang of things 😊 Everyone have a good first day!! ⚡

I posted work on Hapara on Monday, but since distance learning wasn't supposed to start until today, I waited to send out a Remind. I logged on this morning and found a bunch of students had already completed it without me asking!! I miss them so much!!! 😭😭😭

Thank you Mrs. Floros for your generosity and for supporting our community!! You are amazing! Community members- if you're able, support our local businesses! Think of gift cards, take out, and tips.

WOW! Hairspray was spectacular! Everything about it was amazing! I loved the surprise cameos, so special for our community. HHS really knows how to put on a show. And we won the basketball game! What can't our school do???

Magic?? Nope, science! We're learning about air pressure today, and students did a quick experiment to see if they could get an index card to stick to the bottom of a graduated cylinder after filling it with water and flipping it upside down.

I'm having great success with @RemindHQ this year. My 1st and 3rd block classes started a week ago and just look at those numbers! I love that so many students and parents have signed up for my reminders. You guys rock!

A student created this for me and I am just in awe over this sweet gesture. I love Astronomy and Jupiter is my favorite planet! 😍 Thank you so much, Bryan!! I've always thought your drawings were incredible, and I think this painting is out of this world. 😉🤓

Can't forget my favorite band and color guard kids who completely outfitted me last week (yes, it was a perfect fit). You guys are awesome, as always! 🥁🎺📯 #bluestreakpride

Here are the teachers (and a cute baby) that braved the cold this evening to support our players! Thanks for picking me two years in a row, Isaiah. Go Steaks! 🏈 #bluestreakpride

Trying on the safety suit was 100% their favorite part of the JOIDES exhibit!

My classes visited the JOIDES exhibit this week and really enjoyed it! They learned that scientists take core samples from the ocean floor and use them to gather information about Earth's past

One of my students gets to use a laser cutter in his robotics class and made this for me. Thanks for my cool new sign, Lucas!

One of my favorite things about a new school year is when Diana Flick comes to my room with Chromebooks for the freshmen and we pass them out like we're Oprah. "You get a Chromebook!! YOU get a Chromebook!!!" It's a fun moment, and I really do love that the students get them.

I stayed extremely busy and met so many wonderful parents and students at Back to School day! I'm also getting ALL of the younger siblings of former students, and I love that so much. Thank you for sharing your children with me and allowing me to share science with them.

Benny created a gimkit game (he introduced me to it) for our class to review for the final exam and they are LOVING it. They begged for round 2 because it was so much fun. This is awesome!
