@sofidiaz109 @1152B this is a perfect example of informal power. It does seem like some types of power overlap. For example your public speaking knowledge may have acted as an expert power as well as an informal.

@1152B In high school I was given expert power while directing my class on a new piece of machine in shop class. I already had knowledge on how to use this so i was put in charge. Using this power I was able to help other students and my teacher learn to use the machine

@ridwan_alrefai @1152B I totally agree with what your saying. The privacy concerns raised by both authors show just how large of a scale our communication can have on the internet.

@1152B Both articles discuss how internet communication has impacted us culturally. In Sohas article we see how large Internet communities affect our culture almost overnight with viral trends. Alternatively, Massanari highlights the potential for hate groups online.

@Joyce82131304 @1152B I agree that Dr Grays paper highlighted online identities and the dangers that come with that. I believe internet security is becoming more and more important as our communities are moving to this online atmosphere.

@1152B Gray and Soha's papers both highlight the importance of proper representation when developing a community. In gaming, lack of female representation has bread a community lacking acceptance. In youtube, small creators have lacked representation and are taken advantage of.

@Cam72399 @1152B I think you are absolutely correct. the action of tagging someone in a way is non verbal communication saying that you want them to see that you are proud or happy about a specific memory.

@1152B Tagging family members online is a modern approach to kin keeping by allowing all members of a group to find each others profiles and keep up to date with their lives. This digital kin keeping plays a large part in the family identity in our modern cultural setting.

@ZaneDaPain @1152B I totally agree with your point. Geographical filtering plays a huge role in who we decide to interact with. I think that this understanding means that we are over filtering, and perhaps going to different dive bars could provide more or better opportunities.

@1152B An example of the relationship filtering model can be seen on dating apps like Tinder. Initially we judge people based on their physical attributes, and then we give them a chance to go into detail about their worldviews, and determine if we want to pursue a relationship.

@Shelbycase55 @1152B Very good point, I think the relational aspects of player coach communication can also be highlighted in the giving of commands. I know I wouldn't just get on the line and start doing conditioning if someone other than a coach told me to.

@hectordontknow @1152B This is a good point, a bilingual person may converse differently with people who also share that language. This could be for cultural reasons as I think there is a relationship between culture and language. It may just be easier to speak in their native language.

@1152B Communication is relational while talking with a Doctor. The fact that they are your Dr. is known to both you and them, which allows the Dr. to ask questions that culturally would be rude in a different social frame.
