Kalhan @SamKalhan

A reader just sent me the written complaint that his wife made in the riding of Carleton, at St. Michael School on Corkery Road in Ottawa. Apparently the person handing out the ballots was asking, "Are you voting for Fanjoy?"

It took until the last week, but we finally got the meme of the campaign

Vote in our Canada federal election 2025 polls: Which leader won the debates? Who do you want to be the next PM? ca.news.yahoo.com/vote-in-our-ca…

Who will you be voting for? Let's try to get 100,000 votes. Spread this far and wide, including with accounts that you disagree with.

@AmazingZoltan Do we know if Chandra is running as an independent?

Tariffs may still feel abstract to many, so let me share something tangible to help everyone better understand the gravity of the situation. We employ 50 people at our Canadian cannery. A significant portion of our business is with US customers. For decades, we’ve operated under free trade and structured our business accordingly. Food canning is highly competitive, and we operate on thin profit margins. From March 4 to March 7, a 25% tariff was imposed on Canadian imports to the US. For shipments during just this short period, our customers were taxed a combined total of $26,632.12 USD. We've offered to absorb these costs to maintain our customer relationships for now. This arrangement isn't sustainable. 25% is simply too high of a tariff to absorb on an ongoing basis. If these tariffs persist, we risk losing a substantial—and the most profitable—portion of our business. Unless we make up for these losses in the Canadian market, it will lead to significant job losses and could even put us out of business completely. That's why we're urgently appealing to Canadian retailers: please list our products and other products made by Canadian food manufacturers affected by these tariffs. Do it now, please! We must swiftly respond to this economic warfare to protect Canada’s domestic food and beverage manufacturing industry. This is a matter of food sovereignty and security. We are being attacked! Canadian customers, please ask your local managers to list more Canadian products in place of US products. This is urgent!

Canada’s “51st state” military strategy What’s worse than being trolled as the 51st state by Americans? A federal govt that sends a clear message to the world that is exactly what we are. This week the PM was in Europe and delivered another Ukraine speech no one listened to. - To our NATO allies; Canada has become that cheap dinner party guest that stands up and gives a long-winded toast to everyone’s health, but never, ever sticks around to help pay the bill. We are a running joke in international security circles for self-righteous speeches followed by… nothing. - The Russians and Putin smirk when the Canadian PM declares he is “…unequivocal on standing up against Vladimir Putin’s illegal, immoral, unjust violations of the international order” - while his submarines and ships openly traverse our territorial waters with zero fear of Canadian intervention or retaliation. Canada talks about the international order but won’t pay for it. We give self-righteous speeches, but make our allies - particularly American taxpayers - pay for our deadbeat status on NATO, NORAD, AUKUS, Five Eyes, naval/Arctic strategy, and energy and mineral security. (While we simultaneously waste $50 billion on bankrupt EV battery plants...) 2. Yesterday, CAF announced new lowered-entry standards for an already deeply understaffed, underequipped and demoralized military. - We are 16,000 recruits short with morale at 34%. A DEI-obsessed general staff desperately hope that being “inclusive” or ignoring health issues will fill the void of their lack of vision, strategy and command. Won’t work. - Canada is now a rounding error. We have 67k active troops & 5k in reserve, including cooks and janitors. The USA has 1.29 million active troops and 700k in reserve. Their Special Operations Command is larger than our entire armed forces. That is not proportional. The world is a more dangerous place, but Canada is acting like it is on a vacation from history that the US has to pay for. It’s ridiculous to expect Russia or NATO or the USA to respect our sovereignty if we don’t actually care enough to invest in it ourselves. A wake up call is coming. Canada needs to re-build the military and intelligence infrastructure, staffing, strategy, equipment and capabilities that will make our enemies and allies respect us once again. Self-righteous overseas speeches and lower-standard HR inclusivity announcements don’t cut it anymore. If we don’t want to be called the 51st state, we have to stop acting like it. #CAF #ukraine #cdnpoli

@PronkDaniel Great analysis

Completely unacceptable to see violence targeting worshippers at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton today. All Canadians should be free to practice their faith in peace. Conservatives condemn this violence unequivocally. I will unite our people and end the chaos.
