Pierre Gasly had 44 points on August 23 when the Dutch GP ended. Since then, Gasly has scored points in multiple races. Gasly now has only 42 points on October 26.
You won't find a weirder F1 stat without context this year.
Races count only when both cars finished, so crashes and breakdowns don’t decide it. Across his career he won 48% of qualifying battles and 53% of races. Some seasons went the other way, but 2012 and 2019 are the biggest Saturday-to-Sunday swings in his career.
Rookie year, already making saves like this. Eighteen years later he was still doing his best work on Sundays.
Räikkönen vs his teammate:
2012 (Lotus): 10–10 in qualifying, 11–2 in races
2019 (Alfa Romeo, aged 39): 11–9 in qualifying, 15–2 in races
Method: FanGraphs-style split-half reliability. For each pairing-season, draw two separate random samples of N qualifyings, correlate the halves across all pairings, repeat 30 times. Data: Jolpica-F1.
The surprise: the plain win–loss record is as reliable as the lap-time gap.
How many qualifyings before a teammate battle means anything?
I split every teammate pairing since 2000 into two random halves and checked how well they agree.
1 session: mostly noise
5 sessions: half signal, half noise
10 sessions: about 70% signal

How it works: Elo (K=20) from every qualifying and every race where both teammates finished, 2000 to today. Ratings link across the grid as drivers change teams.
Flat stretches = years out of F1 (Alonso 2019–20, Albon 2021).
Caveat: weak teammates flatter you.
Who has beaten his teammates hardest since 2000?
I rated every driver like a chess player, using only teammate battles: same car, same day.
@Max33Verstappen peaks near 2000. Nobody else gets past 1900. Alonso sat around 1800 for a decade. #F1
