@AndrewPerpetua It's ballpark on the scale of Walmart. It's not small, but you somehow see a lot more people writing conspiracy theories about the US's defense procurement budget than you do Walmart.

@RyanO_ChosenCoy I don't know what this comment is about, and maybe I'm missing something, but I took care of hundreds of people who had been blown up at a concussion center in Afghanistan, and I literally never once met one who seemed like a coward.

@HN_Schlottman It's because he's become a Fox News addict. Whenever a news cycle breaks out like this, be it LA or Israel, that gets Fox News drumming up the fear campaigns, Trump gets worked up into chest thumping over it.

Another example of the Russians using wounded soldiers on crutches at the front. Russian infantrymen are trying to repel an attack by the FPV using their crutches. instagram.com/reel/DFrmPO_iN…

Yesterday, the Ukrainian military reported a yet unusual incident, when a unit of wounded Russian soldiers on crutches was sent to take up positions on the front line. Today, a video of this 'assault' appeared. Over the past few months, complaints and whining from wounded

This article shows that the budget proposal is already approved (last Monday, not tomorrow as I was expecting). It seems that a lot of the details simply haven't been publicized.

This seems to be a threat in reply to Russia's budget depending on increased oil production. Russia is due to cut production in order to meet OPEC requirements. Saudi Arabia may be concerned that Russia has no intentions to maintain that.

Great article from Le Rubicon via War on the Rocks expanding a lot of what I tend to say about Russia's liquid reserves. Their prediction is that Russia is likely to run out of money (soonish) and start printing money. warontherocks.com/2024/09/russia…

@secretsqrl123 It doesn't even matter if it can see it. Even if it could, the F-35 can still eat 4 missiles before it starts needing to worry. It's not just a "stealth versus no stealth" scenario, it's a matter of one jet using chaffe while the other uses a multi-stage fiber optic decoy.

"Due to restrictions imposed on the local financial system, Russian governmental institutions and state-owned firms are having difficulty paying salaries to personnel abroad." I wonder if it includes African mercs. Could explain the recent denouncements pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2024/…

It's easy to say "Russia has an economic plan, just look at it," but they had a plan last year that went out the window by July. And look at their actions regarding mobilization and it becomes clear that internally the Kremlin realizes that they are running out of wiggle room.

The question is whether income tax changes set to begin next year can allow Russia to meet its deficit goals now that Ukraine has challenged Russias drawdown plans. If next year goes like this year, Russia will be approaching a crisis by 2026. Mobilization would speed that up.

Russia's discussions with OPEC regarding 2025 production cuts, Russia's lack of mobilization, and Russia's pre-Kursk broadcasting of the need to negotiate, all reinforce FinMin's aspirations to drawdown war spending by the end of 2025.

Putin’s reliance on irregular “volunteer” formations tells us that he continues to perceive mobilization as a significant risk for his regime – especially in crisis situations such as the Kursk incursion.
