The Origin and Implications of the COVID-19 Pandemic: An Expert Survey | @GCRInstitute gcrinstitute.org/covid-origin/
“The study’s experts overall stated that the pandemic most likely originated via a natural zoonotic event, defined as an event in which a non-human animal infected a human, and in which the infection did not occur in the course of any form of virological or biomedical research.”
@SaskiaPopescu This is great, because in a quantifiable way that I haven't seen before, it shows 1) there is a spectrum of views among experts on the topic, but 2) by far the majority see boring old zoonosis as the most likely possibility.
@SaskiaPopescu Did these experts have access to the lab notebooks of the WIV? A complete list of available genomes of sarbecoviruses? They know what Zhou Yusen was working on? What happened after DARPA rejected DEFUSE? Have they found a progenitor virus?
@SaskiaPopescu If there’s anything I’ve learned during the past few years, it’s that if the experts say it’s true it must be true.
@SaskiaPopescu They are 100% correct and have been expertly confirmed
@SaskiaPopescu When TF did we start caring about people's opinions? This reminds of "4 out 5 doctors recommend Camel brand Cigarettes."
@SaskiaPopescu 23% of experts are trustworthy. Actually higher than I thought.
@SaskiaPopescu The experts overwhelmingly don’t want to admit they were wrong.
@SaskiaPopescu Can I just confirm that in 2024 you are personally endorsing the "zoonotic origin" story as the origin of SARS-CoV-2 please?
@SaskiaPopescu One has to believe the biblical concept that humans are fundamentally different than “non-human” animals to believe that disease has a starting point and an ending point unlike the rest of the evolutionary chain. Has to be a hierarchy of “spread” otherwise, germs are ubiquitous.
@SaskiaPopescu Except that the non-humans in question weren’t even native to the outbreak region.
