@joncoopertweets Democrats have far more occasional voters than Republicans so like every cycle it comes down to turnout. Harris lead in polls right to election day. The polls weren't wrong, it's just that something like 7 million Biden voters decided to stay home.

@PeterHamby For the people who know, they both use the same consultants. They've been looking at his weak poll numbers and her surprisingly high numbers. These polls mean little right now but he's carving out a place to gracefully exit and to support her if she decides to run.

@hungus14 @LarrySabato Self identified Independence tend to vote either Republican or Democrat very consistently. There are very few real swing voters. The name of the game, and this is why Republicans focus on suppression so much, is the occasional voter and who turns out.

Black voters, along with the LGTBQ voters, are the most reliable support for Dems and Dems know that. Because Democrats are black. Black Americans are involved in every level of the party, top to bottom. The problem is messaging. Dems are behind in the use of SM and is shows.
Across the US, you'll will find black Democrats forming the message, running campaigns and targeting voters. Huge resources are poured into majority black districts. LatinX, Asian, LGTBQ voters often resentment at the support for black voters, but the reason is the turnout.
@ahylton26 I love your new show but today I felt defeated by the misinformation. The idea the Democrats take the black for for granted or don't profile enough support in black communities is the biggest myth in politics. The black vote is at the core of the party.

@LarrySabato Dems have had majority support on issues since the 1970s, but it always comes down to turnout and suppression. Recent prez elections have been clear, Dems win in high turnout yrs. 2020 had a high turnout of 66.6 of eligible, vs. 63% in 2024. More Dem than Rep stayed home in '24
