Unfortunate fact—for the cost of the proposed Georgia Pathways to Coverage program, we can literally cover every uninsured Georgian by fully expanding Medicaid with the help of federal funds.
But instead, because of politics, we are only covering a fraction. #gapol
Grateful that @BrianKempGA is proposing to expand Medicaid for pregnant mothers. I fully support that to help decrease Georgia’s maternal mortality rate.
I also hope that we can move beyond piecemeal legislation and fully expand Medicaid. It’s the right thing to do. #gapol
@MurphyAJC@SenGloriaButler When I was working at the GA Capitol, @SenGloriaButler was easily one of my favorites. Always enjoyable to be around. True to herself and party, but also pragmatic and willing to listen to all viewpoints. And just a lot of fun.
My column for Sunday on @SenGloriaButler, the first Black woman to lead either party in the state senate. “You’ve got to still keep working towards that goal. Don’t lose your focus. Don’t lose your hope.” #gapolajc.com/politics/opini…
Proud that one of my first acts as senator was to co-sponsor the Reproductive Freedom Act. Thanks to @sallyharrellga and @sheaforgeorgia for leading the charge.
Georgians deserve to live in a state that protects the fundamental right to reproductive healthcare for all.#gapol
Better healthcare tops my list of priorities. Many of my insulin dependent constituents and family have expressed concerns over rising costs.
I am asking the Governor to explore producing insulin in GA, partnered with a bill to cap costs on state insurance plans. #GAPol#SR46
From getting sworn in to serve Georgians for the 6th time, to working with Sen. Nan Orrock and Gloria Butler, to speaking with a group of Emory Healthcare professionals, to attending the Governor's inauguration gala, I have jumped right into my work representing Georgians. #gapol
Today we say goodbye to possibly the greatest Speaker of the House in US history. Nancy Pelosi has brilliantly and effectively led Congress with intelligence, passion, decency, and a devotion to upholding our Constitution. Her accomplishments are unparalleled. Thank you, Nancy.
I haven’t commented about the Warnock run-off b/c I find I am still so furious that voters in Georgia would force their brilliant Senator to endure the indignity of a run-off against such a patently & embarassingly unequipped opponent. But @ReverendWarnock’s grace humbles me. twitter.com/ReverendWarnoc…
