❌ OPPOSE #SB180 as it potentially enables discriminatory practices based on religion, harming various marginalized groups despite its initial purpose of safeguarding minority faiths. Let your legislator know on or before 3/28. More info at bit.ly/govotegaCTA #GoVoteGADay

The Georgia legislature must not lose this golden opportunity to equally protect all Georgians with #SB180. We’re joining with 3 states this year, the hyper-partisan controversy hasn’t erupted, & this will not be a major player in the election. Let’s pass the bill. #RFRA #Gapol
@BarredBusiness @LCFGeorgia Our friends @GAEquality are sounding the alarm on #SB180 (AKA the Religious Freedom Act) which could embolden discrimination on the basis of religion. Rather than protecting minority faiths, SB 180 could perpetuate discrimination against people of faith, women and TLGBQ+ folks.
Unfortunately, the Senate's passage of #SB180 paints a different picture. It's a vote to restrict our freedom and create a license to discriminate based on religion
We are deeply disappointed #SB180 passed the Senate. Freedom to practice your religion is a fundamental right, but it's crucial in safeguarding that right we don't create a license to discriminate. We envision a state that embraces Georgia’s LGBTQ+ community, not isolates it.

@SenGloriaButler @GASenateDems @KimforGeorgia After remarks by just three senators, #SB180 passes by a party line vote. Sending this bill to the floor on Crossover Day is no accident. Republicans hope we'll forget that they voted against our freedom and against our families. We refuse to let that happen.
@SenGloriaButler @GASenateDems @KimforGeorgia “Let’s not wait until the floodgates of discrimination are already open. You have a chance to vote down this bill not because of your personal religious beliefs but because the people of this state are depending on you to help them survive and thrive.” - @KimforGeorgia on #SB180
@SenGloriaButler @GASenateDems @KimforGeorgia “When it’s your loved one that someone else has a religious objection to, there will be no protection for them in Georgia. And they won’t have any protection because we are one of three states in the nation that do not have an anti-discrimination law.” - @KimforGeorgia on #SB180
@SenGloriaButler @GASenateDems @KimforGeorgia “I want you to think about your own family. If any one of you has someone in your family or someone you love who is gay or in an interracial relationship… passing this legislation puts them at risk.” - @KimforGeorgia on #SB180, which creates a license to discriminate in Georgia
@SenGloriaButler @GASenateDems “Legislation like this is an invitation, it’s an invitation for Georgians to consider how they want to discriminate.” - @KimforGeorgia, Georgia’s first openly LGBTQ+ state senator on #SB180
@SenGloriaButler @GASenateDems “What if we voted this morning to expand Medicaid and give hundreds of thousands of Georgians access to health insurance? Not once during the last 14 years have we prioritized Medicaid expansion, not one single time.” - @SenGloriaButler, Leader of @GASenateDems on #SB180
HAPPENING NOW: #SB180 is on the Senate Floor. This bill would create a license to discriminate in Georgia on the basis of religion. The bill's sponsor claims that it's a mirror of federal legislation--that's not true. x.com/georgiayouthco…

Sen. Setzler continues to compare SB 180 to bipartisan versions of RFRA in other states. He’s misleading what we know #SB180 would do— create a license to discriminate on the basis of gender, sexual orientation, religion, country of origin, and more.
