84-20 changes were approved in NB; surgical abortions outside hospitals will now fall under Medicare!
[4/4] In Canada, abortion is legal and abortion is funded, but it is not entirely accessible. Continue advocating for equitable access to abortion, in Canada and beyond. #MED6288
[1/4]✨Happy birthday to the late Dr. Morgentaler who rightfully prioritized the health of abortion-seeking patients over the law. #abortionishealthcare #MED6288

On #TransDayofVisibility advocate for health systems that are competent with 2SLGBTQ+ health care. Everyone deserves access to a competent provider. Everyone deserves access free from discrimination. #MED6288
IT’S OUT! 🏳️🌈🩺 The CQMSA 2SLGBTQ+ Education Program is designed by medical students, for medical students, as a primer on 2SLGBTQ+ health care. To sign up, head to our website: cqmsa.org/educationprogr… #Pride2022 #MedEd #QueerMedTwitter
On Trans Day of Visibility, advocate for just health systems. #MED6288
On Trans Day of Visibility, we're sharing ways Rainbow Health Ontario can help health care providers make our healthcare system more equitable for trans, non-binary, and Two Spirit people. #TDOV #cdnhealth #onthealth
#Populationhealth during #outbreaks relies on health care practice that shifts in concordance with new evidence. This brief indicates HCW should not rely on #presumptiveimmunity in caring for pts with #measles; properly don and doff that #N95 #PPE! #onhealth #MED6288
All health care workers, even those who have had measles or measles vaccine previously, should wear an N95, while providing care to individuals with suspect or confirmed measles. Check out our new resource for more information. publichealthontario.ca/-/media/Docume…
🚰The #humanright to water has not been upheld in Ontario and across Canada as demonstrated by long-term water advisories. Advisories disproportionately affect Indigenous communities, demonstrating structural anti-Indigenous racism. #publichealth #canpoli #MED6288
Access to safe water impacts our health. 18 Ontario First Nation communities have long-term drinking water advisories. This #WorldWaterDay, advocate for water security in #NorthernOntario. 💧ow.ly/gWPl50QYM4T #HealthEquity #IndigenousHealth @ddsv3 @RedSky454
Racial discrimination is a public health and health policy issue. #canpoli #MED6288
Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. Colonialism still affects Indigenous people within Canada’s justice systems, healthcare systems, and more. Together, we can stand up against racial discrimination, and hold these systems accountable.
An important thing about the adopted "Canada's Actions to Promote Peace in the Middle East" motion: it is non-binding, meaning there is no legal obligation for the Government of Canada to answer the calls of the House. #canpoli #MED6288
Vote result: The @NDP #OppositionMotion (Canada's actions to promote peace in the Middle East) was adopted. #cdnpoli Yeas: 204 ✅ Nays: 117 ❌ The full text of the motion, as amended, will be available after adjournment later today in the Journals: ow.ly/pqMa50QWie2
When we know better, we should do better. Changes to #qualitycare standards dignify #continuededucation. For example, this webinar may be valuable to providers caring for those with a higher risk for or a diagnosis of #hypertension. #onhealth #MED6288
We've developed a quality standard for hypertension, focused on important opportunities to improve hypertension care for people in Ontario. Join our upcoming webinar to learn more: ow.ly/ww5F50QSfNi
As discussed in #MED6288 this week, ensuring equitable access to culturally sensitive health services is an important component of promoting patient centred care and improving the quality of health care services, improving health care engagement, efficacy, and #populationhealth
The #JCCs have partnered with @LenPierre2 consulting & local #FirstNations communities to host a number of experiential learning sessions . Register: ow.ly/i9lF50QM5OO • Apr 3: Hope (Shxw’ow’hamel) • May 1: Duncan (Quw’utsun’) • May 22: West Vancouver (Skwxwu7mesh)
Defining quality standards benefits all. When patients have expectations, they practice self-advocacy. When providers know current, evidence-based standards, they strive to meet them. When organizations see deficits in provincial targets, they reassess. #onhealth #MED6288
Each year, approximately 12,000 people aged 50+ experience a hip fracture. This can often lead to a steep decline in health and independence. Our updated hip fracture quality standard highlights key areas for improvement in care. Learn more: ow.ly/Esbk50QReQx
Caregivers are often under supported and under appreciated. Wonderful programs exist to help better support our caregivers, such as "Make a Connection, Take a Break" at @thedementiasoc. #MED6288
Let’s acknowledge all the women who, often unpaid, are dementia caregivers. Significantly more women than men are also living with #dementia. Learn more: ow.ly/uNOl50QNN8h #dementiaAwareness #InternationalWomensDay
