Imagine if the Glazers had put as much effort into running Manchester United (or at least into finding people qualified to run it) as they have put into the auction to sell it

If Qatar buy Manchester United, we will have passed the point of no return. A sportswashing free-for-all, an all-you-can-buy buffet of our national sport. All of us waiting to see how football shifts on its axis while we watch on. inews.co.uk/sport/football…

Massive £500m debt Glazers loaded on Manchester United to pay for their own takeover still on the club; Glazers now want £6bn, mostly personal gain, for selling club they drained of £1bn in interest and charges. An all time capitalism classic. #MUFC theguardian.com/football/2023/…

Typical Glazers this: after years of under investment as they bled the place dry, there is huge amount required to get United up to speed. And they'd much rather someone else did the heavy lifting.

Putting these elements together, I estimate that the Glazers have taken out £1.1 bln from #MUFC (interest £743m, debt repayments £147m, dividends £166m, directors remuneration £55m & management fees £23m). Total cost to United rises to £1.6 bln if £465m share sales are included.

To those patronising #mufc fans, saying ‘this isn’t the way’, what would you like them to do? Failed by government when Glazers came in. They tried every form of polite protest. They set up a Phoenix club. The owners do not engage. What else is left but non-violent direct action?
