@guardian Why did they include suspensions in these figures? It makes the picture look far worse than reality. Suspensions normally last one day and are a strategy to avoid exclusion.

@VictoriaCoren I noticed this and it did make me feel uncomfortable. Scars can really damage someone’s self- confidence and be life changing in a negative way. I know there was no harm meant, so would never complain, but I think this apology will mean a lot to many.

@LeftieStats @OwenJones84 @IpsosUK Every time I see a Stats for Lefties post it makes me cringe. Stats are supposed to be used objectively to determine truth. Not cherrypicked. Your very name suggests bias in the stats you choose to report! Incidentally, I would be equally embarrassed by ‘Stats for Righties’.

@simon_ball46 @Kit_Yates_Maths I couldn’t care less what Johnson says. If I thought there were benefits to behaving differently I would. But I don’t. I’m not wasting my life hiding from covid anymore because the cost of that outweighs the benefits. You only get one life.

@simon_ball46 @Kit_Yates_Maths I’ve used the Zoe app since 2020, had three vaccines and will have more, worn masks when told to, gone into work with vulnerable children throughout the pandemic and self-isolated when I’ve caught the disease or suspected I had it. I’ve done my bit.

@simon_ball46 @Kit_Yates_Maths I’m someone who wants to enjoy my short time on earth socialising and interacring with other humans. I will accept the small risk of a bad covid outcome rather than living a miserable life. I wish covid wasn’t a thing, but it is and we have to deal with it.

The fact you keep (wrongly) trying to cast me as a Tory says to me this is more about tribalism to you than anything else.

@simon_ball46 @Kit_Yates_Maths I’m concerned with where the balance is. Personally I wouldn’t be too bothered if masks were brought back in again, but I know that it would barely nudge the dial when it comes to cases. And then some people would be after even more restrictions. Tell me I’m wrong.

@simon_ball46 @Kit_Yates_Maths I didn’t say anywhere that masks won’t bring covid cases down. It’s a question of the benefits of masks vs the costs. But I forgot that nuance has no place on Twitter. Trying to paint me as a Tory or Johnson supporter is outrageous.
