My biggest takeaway from the Titan story is that we absolutely could have coordinated, multinational efforts to ensure no migrant dies crossing the sea and we choose not to.

I do this for every peer to peer denial and denial letter I get. When patients suffer, we need to be able to point to the people who were “just following the internal protocol” and ask why they care about insurance company profits over people’s well being.

This kind of behavior from insurance companies should be criminal. I recently fought a PSMA denial through 6 (yes, six!) rounds of denial to finally get approved. Thankfully it all took less than 3 weeks, but it was nonetheless an absolute waste of time and energy.

It’s getting tiresome to fight for every single PSMA approval. Current fight is with @BlueShieldCA who told me during p2p that despite the 9/2021 change to NCCN guidelines, they “never” approve PSMA as part of initial work up. Appeal denied too 😡

As someone who spent my entire RN career in oncology, providing a dying patient with a “good” and dignified death was absolutely the most important part of my relationship with a patient and their family. It’s hard but worth every ounce of effort.

Last week I started my new job in urology as a brand new new graduate NP. I’m 100% certain I’ve hit the supervising physician jackpot, and all of my other colleagues are wonderful too! Now, to learn alllll the urology things 😂
