I saw them punish red states and move military missions over abortion laws. They abandoned hundreds of our troops in Niger and failed to advance meaningful new technologies. Sec. Hegseth isn't perfect. His press briefings are often melodramatic and overwrought. He didn't inherent a perfect institution to run, either. But he has re-ordered the culture of our military in profoundly positive ways. He got rid of race-based promotions. He insisted on physical standards. He prioritized patriotism and recruitment. He has actually shifted money away from failing legacy systems to more modernized, autonomous offense AND defense. Rep. Massie, I know you disagree with Trump/Hegseth on the Iran War. The debates we are having on foreign policy are important. And I too found it strange that Hegseth went to Kentucky to personally campaign against you as our troops were in combat, in harms way. But impeachment is the WRONG tool to pursue your objectives. Impeachment should not arise from policy disagreements or squabbles over competence. Sec. Hegseth might win the war against Iran, he might not. But he's already won the war inside the US Military for values, culture and merit.
