Did student ability plummet on the PISA examination this year? No, they did not experience any meaningful change. The large observed change is due to two factors: 1. Measurement issues (which could not be fully corrected due to a format change) 2. Sampling changes
The interesting things about trends in test scores is that: - Across countries, there are wild swings due to the inclusion or exclusion of different countries. - Within countries, there are no trends after accounting for MI. - Within-country demographics play a small role.

In their call this morning they said it was confirmed that in all cases it was the result of massive vision loss completely unrelated to wet AMD in 9 patients. E.g. Macaular degeneration, detached retina, etc. For all 9 of those patients other endpoints related to wet AMD were still well controlled
