In addition to requesting private time, the student is not engaging in masturbatory behaviors within his program area.
Protocol to address masturbatory behaviors with one of my male clients has been successful. Student initiates requests.
Need suggestions. Student self-touches in large group setting (function: escape/attention). Ideas to redirect?
Still stumped on ritualistic bx (OCD) and how to manage in it w/out triggering aggression and/or risk for typical peers during inclusion.
Obviously from there they could build tolerance to the number of mands for break they'd honor.
I suggested that they interrupt the chain and prompt requesting escape (manding for break). Teaches student functional skill, averts crisis
Staff implemented an escape extinction, but the student still managed to delay task-demand due to high-intensity of bxs.
A client recently was visibly upset for an unknown reason. It was evident paired w/a particular SD would trigger high-intensity problem bx.
The old school "extinction" mindset doesn't always work. Sometimes it's better to pick your battles to avert crisis.
I find myself focusing on the lack of skill and what needs to be taught rather than focusing on ONLY extinguishing the behavior.
Sometimes the whole "fix" him because you have a magic behavior wand gets old. #Tired
Any interventions to address impulsive behaviors? #ADHD
Any idea how to infer antecedents and function for behavior that involves permanent products (e.g. Turning in hw).
What if client has history of ritualistic behavior (OCD) & antecedents occasion problem bx hard to detect. Interruption=aggression.Thoughts?
Struggling with staff-collected data for the FBA. If teacher refuses to collect ABC data & only willing to fill out their own. What to do?
I usually insert my teaching credentials because most teachers are nervous/apprehensive at the thought of someone "out of touch" coming in!
