If your list is full of unengaged subscribers, you probably shouldn’t send all your campaigns to your full list.
But if you aggressively clean your list so it’s essentially a 90-Day Engaged segment? It’ll probably be ok.
Instead of worrying about minimizing your unsubscribe rate, focus on maximizing the positive metrics: opens, clicks, revenue.
Those are all maximized by consistently sending relevant campaigns to your subscribers.
I spoke to a brand owner yesterday who didn’t want to send too many emails to his list because he was worried about unsubscribes.
That’s not just wrong, it’s backwards.
People signed up for your email list because they want your emails.
Send them emails.
Imagine you and your competitors have comparably good products, but one of you has your emails dialled in.
Who do you think is gonna have the better LTV?
Nobody can be amazing at strategy, communication, copywriting, design, and technical implementation — but a small team can hit all those strengths.

It makes me proud when they want to show off the work we’ve done to as many people as they can.
It’s rewarding to play at least some small part in the exponential growth that happens when a brand finally gets all the pieces in place:
A solid product, website, acquisition system, and retention system.
I like working with smaller brands because I can work directly with the founder and see the immediate impact of my work.
Nothing worse than having to go through multiple chains of command to get anything done.
