The problem with the student loan forgiveness is that it doesn’t solve the underlying problem. Cool, we put a bandaid on a gaping wound. The Fed Gov. guaranteeing these student loans and are impossible to go away drive up prices to be astronomical.

@Meggleberries Something you said is a decision you would make had you known better. Career outlook for the vast majority of careers doesn’t differ between a 80k/yr or 15k/yr college

@Meggleberries Nope there are plenty of racial programs (affirmative action, minority-based scholarships, etc). This is dealing with economic disparity and the cold truth that a lot of people can’t afford 80k/yr college. It makes people go to an affordable college/path….

@Meggleberries Gives the ability for institutions to continually increase prices without fear of decreased enrollment. Maybe some combination of the two (still debatable) is possible. Cancelling student debt without fixing the problem is like slapping a bandaid on a severed limb

@Meggleberries So I agree the education of these huge decisions is a big problem. Just don’t see how cancelling student debt solves the problem. Yes it fixes your problem, but what about the next senior class? To me, guaranteeing these loans allows kids to make these bad decisions and …

By my estimates, Covid case rates among fully vaccinated individuals are currently ~4-7x lower than those that aren't fully vaccinated. This is based on weekly data out of LA County. Unfortunately, our federal government has no real-time data on this. x.com/youyanggu/stat…

For those asking where I got the estimates of "~75% of new cases are among the unvaccinated", below is the latest data from LA County. You can see that the % of new cases that are fully vaccinated is steadily rising over time. publichealth.lacounty.gov/media/coronavi… dashboard.publichealth.lacounty.gov/covid19_survei…

Charlie Munger is a Republican and Warren Buffett is a Democrat. Despite their strong political beliefs, they are best friends and business partners for close to six decades. This is a trait worth emulating.

In the weeks ahead, we'll probably see more politicized debates about mask mandates. But let's first look at the data! Below are COVID-19 cases over the past months for states that kept vs dropped mask mandates. Cases are dropping regardless of the presence of mask mandates. 🧵
