Over-seriousness is a trauma response. It’s why so many adults can’t play, can’t just have fun, or go with the flow. We’re stuck in sympathetic activation. Our body is fighting a life and death battle.
@Theholisticpsyc Who’s to say how much seriousness is *too* much seriousness. It’s also simply a personality trait.
@Theholisticpsyc Oh wow! So being so serious and feeling silly and self conscious as a teen and young adult when I'm out "having fun" and having trouble loosening up was all a trauma response? And the fact I can do that now with ease means I've gotten over a lot of it?
@Theholisticpsyc This is so interesting, can you do a thread, please?
I’d put it a bit differently We’ve foolishly believed that only rushing, running, quick, instant, fast is the way to life, to success, to growth. In the process we’ve become restless, agitated and frustrated- sympathetic nervous system is on. Take a relaxed attitude ( it doesn’t mean you don’t work but work with ease- you work better, your work is superior, you create something worthwhile. And at the end- you’re happy too.
@Theholisticpsyc and then be picked on for being “too serious”
