Episode 8 of the Wall of Silence Podcast, the @ACNAtoo story, is coming this Thursday. In it Helen tells why she resigned from the Bishop's Council of @MidwestAnglican in the wake of the Mark Rivera sexual abuse case and how the diocese decided to handle it.
We need to talk more about the underlying reason so many pastors are restored to the pulpit, and why other pastors support the restoration: megachurch salaries are HUGE, and there is virtually no way for a pastor, with no other qualifications, to replicate it elsewhere.
Please be mindful of how we say “God protected us in the storm.” It implies a harmful theology that God does *not* care about people who were injured or killed, or in fact sent a hurricane after them. It’s good to be thankful, but

Once upon a time, I thought the Billy Graham Rule made sense. By avoiding one-on-one time with women they aren’t married to, men would be protected from sin. And, I was told, men practiced this to honor and protect women. The problem is, I’ve never seen it work this way 1/
