Watched a kid, maybe five, march up to the checkout at Trader Joe's holding a single banana and a library card. He put the banana on the belt, slid the library card through the chip reader, and waited. The cashier didn't miss a beat. She looked at the screen, frowned, and said "hmm, it's saying declined. Do you have a backup?" The kid dug through his pockets and produced a Chuck E. Cheese card. She tapped it on the reader, nodded seriously, and said "that went through." He walked out like he'd just closed a business deal. His mom was crying laughing in the cereal aisle.
