Order of the Sinking Star has been out for a week now, so I decided to run some stats on Steam where it's easy. The Witness was our previous game that was very successful when launched 10 years ago. Order has sold 45% more units on Steam in its first week than Witness did. Order is 25% cheaper (Witness was $40, Order is $30 with some bundle discounts, and there's been some inflation), so you would expect more units at the lower price. But regardless, it looks at least as financially successful as the Witness was, maybe a little more eventually, depending on how the tail goes. Thanks everyone for supporting the game, and I'm glad you are enjoying it!

@StealthQE4 The uptick in female hiring is a direct response to the attempt at getting rid of DEI. The system refuses to hire white men under any circumstances. So if they can’t use minorities to exclude white men, they’ll use women.

@TankorSmash @Wassimulator my father has a few copies of photoshop predating 2005 (one is even from pre-2000's era) and still uses them because he doesn't like the new ui's. Those things don't get updates and I think if anyone called them "perpetual licenses" they wouldn't be off.

@cloneofsimo European union has put money on making web minigames that give you a pretend city management sim with no real interaction, for kids, in which the whole point of the game is telling you more taxes == good.

A online friend of mine had his pension stolen after 30 yrs (with no complaints I might add) because they got a new HR department and the ladies there did not like that he was not a smooth corporate player but also was the only guy that could build and fix anything that was plugged in. He knew how to be social and was liked enough, he just had his way of doing things and they worked for that long. He died (we presume) basically homeless from a stroke because of the stress of trying to navigate a legal battle to get his pension + prove he would never have done that because he basically had no friends or family to speak on his behalf, his work was his entire life and nobody wants to hear from his internet randos. Human capital gets wasted all the time for much dumber reasons. Maybe sometimes the 150+ IQ move is spending your young years drinking mountain dew and playing games until your parents die and then maybe thinking about doing anything.

@kunchenguid Have you considered that Jira is not all that impressive, and you could build something simple that actually is what your team needs with or without ai, but AI is giving us an opportunity to lie to hipe suits into doing the right actions (like ditching Jira)

I am doing this. I'm building a 2D engine from scratch. Direct hardware access for everything. Multiple video cards and audio output methods supported. Ultrafast scrolling, three tile layers. Zero AI code. Assembly where needed. It can maintain 70fps on a 286.

@cuddlyogre @rfleury Are you implying that htmlCSSjs is a good standard?You struggled to draw a rectangle with centered text for a quarter of a century.Everything the web has done is wishy washy back and forth non stop. I think it's the other way around and web developers should sit down and listen.
