True story: So someone emailed my work email to ask me why all the students on Abbott Elementary are Black and I said because it's set in Philly and they asked where the white students were and I said Philly is 75% BIPOC and majority Black and the public schools are 86% POC and they said, "so why aren't the 14% of white students represented on the show?"
@VABVOX The white gaze demands that people of color consider the white reader or observer's reaction and feelings.
@patswithyou Right? It's a (fabulous Emmy-winning) show by a Black woman about Black students and teachers in a majority Black city. I mean I never saw a Black character on Seinfeld or Friends.
@VABVOX @patswithyou You must be fun at parties
@VABVOX @patswithyou And people been crying about that for 30 years. People complain that Harry Potter is racist for not having enough black witches and wizards. You just don’t like when conservatives are equally annoying
@VABVOX @patswithyou Jackie Chiles doesn’t count ? #Sarcasm , seriously is anything not about race with your crowd ? The self loathing and guilt you liberals carry around 🙃🙃🙃 Does the irony that there’s no one more racist than woke , white liberals like you even register ?
@VABVOX @patswithyou i was just about to say, e-mail them back and ask where were the Black ppl in friends
@VABVOX Seinfeld & Friends took place in NYC--30.9% White, 28.3% Latino, 20.2% Black, 15.6% Asian, and 0.2% Native American (non-Hispanic). We should have seen many more than Union, Tyler, & "Jackie." I loved both shows, but something was lacking.
@VABVOX @patswithyou Might want to take a look through this. m.imdb.com/title/tt009890…
@VABVOX @patswithyou We has humans are built to be progressive as a species. Being willfully regressive is a choice.
@VABVOX @patswithyou Are you talking about the “Seinfeld” that ended nearly 30 years ago? That Seinfeld? Because you’d surely see black characters if it was on today.
@VABVOX @patswithyou You never saw a Black character on Seinfeld or Friends?
@VABVOX @patswithyou Never not even at the bar (friends) or the diner (Seinfeld)
