Before @POTUS and I came into office, only 7,000 borrowers had received student debt relief through Public Service Loan Forgiveness. We made it easier for teachers, firefighters, and others to have their debt forgiven — and as of today, 870,000 public servants have benefitted.
In the last round they forgave $6,000,000,000 for 78,000 Public Service Workers (i.e. Teachers, Nurses, etc.). Divided out that's $76,923 per Public Service Worker! In 2023, the median salary in the United States was $52,000, and the individual had some college or technical school classes. Why are typical Americans expected to pay off the student loans of teachers or nurses with bachelor's degrees?"
“That program” was already baked into the student loan program You are misleading your public by taking credit for the loan forgiveness that was already in place You had nothing to do with that That is not the promise of total loan forgiveness which was part of your campaign promise that you cannot fulfill
But that wasn’t what you campaigned on. That program was also set up by the Bush administration. Joe had 8 years as VP to address that. Isn’t it possible that only 7000 borrowers met the criteria when you came into office? And you waited until the end of your term to start fixing it to use as a campaign strategy for reelection. You’re dangling that carrot again for votes. SCOTUS already said the Executive Branch can’t forgive student debt, so even Joe admitted he’s working around their ruling.
