@Rahll @jack Have humans ever stopped to think should we just because we can? No unfortunately with 8.3 billion people on the planet we are at the whims of a few. I think AI could be something to help us but the truth is the risk outways the benifits.

@jack This is exciting but scary at the same time. We have never had a technology that has improved at the speed AI has. I hope that we know what we are doing.

@NASAhistory In 80 years we went from one grainy frame off a captured rocket to about 10,000 satellites watching Earth around the clock. 🛰️

About 10,000 satellites are circling Earth with us right now 🛰️ Full channel: youtube.com/@vectorizedsci…

@NASA @chandraxray The Lagoon is one of the few nebulae you can pick out with just binoculars from a dark site. Wild to see what's going on inside it in X-rays.

@SkyandTelescope Love this nickname. Arcturus is about 37 light-years away, so the light you see this Halloween left it around 1989. Every star is a little time capsule. 🔭

Halloween is approaching, and this means that Arcturus, the yellow-orange star sparkling low in the west-northwest in twilight, has taken on its role as "the Ghost of Summer Suns." buff.ly/kChU7Nk #stargazing

Even galaxies need to vent. Because of a prior gravitational interaction with a neighboring galaxy, M82 undergoes super intense star formation. This image shows its "exhaust system" in action, regulating the galaxy's growth by venting gas outwards. ⬇️

Ahh… blue lagoon 🏖️ This deep-blue sea of gas and dust—called Messier 8 or the Lagoon Nebula—is a hotbed of star formation. The young stars within the nebula emit rays of high-energy light, including X-rays shown in pink by @chandraxray.

We're closest to the Sun in January. So why is it winter up north? 🌍 New science explainers every week: youtube.com/@vectorizedsci…

@CarolynKWalker1 Agree, Sunday's moonrise is the one to catch. Look east in the first few minutes after it rises, when it's lowest and most orange 🌕

@JeffPorterWX @Lenzczall Great clip. Fun fact for Monday: it's the same sunlight bouncing back at us, just filtered through a lot of air when it's low on the horizon.

@HalfCourtMikeD The golden or red colour comes from the air, not the Moon itself. Near the horizon its light crosses so much atmosphere that the blue scatters out and only the warm colours reach us. I animated it here: youtube.com/watch?v=8u817q…

@MountainManTN Beautiful shot. If you get a chance Sunday, try catching it right as it clears the horizon. That's when it glows its deepest orange 🌕

@MiStormChasers Great tip that you don't need to stay up till midnight. Catch it right at moonrise Sunday, when it's low in the east. That's when it looks the most orange, because its light passes through about 38x more air than when it's overhead.

Hunter's Moon this weekend, Oct 25 and 26. Near the horizon its light crosses about 38x more air than overhead, so the blue scatters out and it glows orange. Best in the first few minutes after moonrise, looking east. 🌕 youtube.com/watch?v=8u817q…
