@TheOpenSeas Our seas are already well managed which is why they are so vibrant while still producing vital socio-economic benefits for communities which rely upon them. It would be both foolish and reckless to place this balance in jeopardy.

@TheOpenSeas Is your article outdated or does it set out to deliberately mislead, some of the claims it contains are completely false?

@TheOpenSeas Good to hear that West Coast cod stocks are so abundant that non targeted fishing gear with proven fin fish avoidance measures is capturing so many 👍

@VickyQuay @ManxRadio All the previous reports over the last 5 decades, each saying in 10 yrs this and that, without exception, have been wrong.

@VickyQuay @ManxRadio I live almost in the sea and the house has been flooded by the sea 3 times in my lifetime, twice in the 1960's, once in the 1970's and never since then. The worst time was 1961, 60 years of alleged sea level rising has never reached that level since

@ManxRadio I’ve lived right beside the sea for decades and I haven’t noticed the sea level rising even an inch 🤷🏻‍♂️

@nickunderdown With all respect, the current discard regulations are widely acknowledged to be a world class destructive farce. Anyone against reform is either seriously lacking knowledge on the subject or has an ulterior motive.

@TheOpenSeas I really struggled with the fellas evidence. There was certainly plenty of spin but I couldn’t find much substance.

@ThroughTheGaps @Kennybyb @VickyQuay @IanDishyfish @lmilstead95 @whiteglen @TheOpenSeas @ArranCoast @marinescotland @MairiGougeon Most of the ones in Scotland, including the one that pretends to be a fishermens organisation, get their core funding from the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation. They are a cartel and work in a pack

@lmilstead95 @isleseafoods @whiteglen @VickyQuay @TheOpenSeas @ArranCoast @marinescotland @MairiGougeon Cod mortality in the trawl fleet is negligible as well but they lost ground at the same time problem here most of the eNGOs don’t want any fishing they say the support the creel men but just using them to divide fishermen once the trawl has been dealt with then the creels suffer

@lmilstead95 @isleseafoods @Kennybyb @whiteglen @TheOpenSeas @ArranCoast @marinescotland @MairiGougeon This is the big problem everyone is facing. eNGOs have turned stopping ALL commercial fishing into a very lucrative industry, they are awash with funding and have zero scruples about who or what they destroy, including families and communities, to keep that gravy train flowing.

@lmilstead95 @whiteglen @TheOpenSeas @ArranCoast @marinescotland @MairiGougeon There never will be a trawl vs creel war outwith agenda driven minority zealots or eNGOs. What we have is a coordinated and very well funded movement to destroy THE fishing industry. The smart potters realised exactly where all this was going a long time ago.

@lmilstead95 @AULDRANDOM @marinescotland @ScotGovRural @MairiGougeon Lauren, the NGO cartel have pitted static men against mobile fishers for some time now. They are now making a pathetic effort to save face and putting up a token effort to show their support for static men even though they actually called for the measure now in place.

@VickyQuay @lmilstead95 @TheOpenSeas @ArranCoast @marinescotland @MairiGougeon Spot on. It’s become embarrassing to watch Marine Scotland staff as they wriggle to justify how they have done a complete U-Turn on their advice only to follow up within a week with another backflip. Influence from ENGOs who can’t make their minds up who to kick has backfired.

@lmilstead95 @TheOpenSeas @ArranCoast @marinescotland @MairiGougeon Was there any credible evidence that any of the banned activities had any real impact? Until it became a 100% political decision these activities and related exemptions were recommended to continue as was. A shameful and harmful episode of marine mismanagement at it’s worst.
