If you started saving in '90... Then bought S&P 500 in August '00 before DotCom crash. ...saved again until October '07, bought before GFC ...saved again until Feb '20, bought before COVID You'd have 4.2% real, annual growth Not bad for worst possible timing 🤷‍♂️ Buy. Hold.
