It is an unspeakable tragedy that innocent children continue to be killed by Israeli forces in Gaza, with another 20 children becoming the latest victims of this conflict. A school being used as a shelter in central Gaza was shelled, killing at least 22 people, including 15 children. In a separate incident, five children were reportedly killed by a drone strike while playing on a street corner in northern Gaza. We simply cannot accept the violence that Palestinian children continue to face as normal. We are continuing to urge the UK government to use their power and influence to secure an immediate, definitive ceasefire, and suspend all arms sales to the Government of Israel.

Today I asked the Prime Minister if he will finally do what’s legally and morally right and end the government’s complicity in Israeli war crimes by banning ALL arms sales —including F-35 fighter jets — to Israel. He said “no”.

🇮🇪 I am very proud of our peacekeepers serving with the UN in Lebanon. They define Irish courage, honour and compassion. They bravely face real danger to keep people safe. Their duty is to peace and humanity. They do not take orders from Israel’s war machine. We send our solidarity to our peacekeepers and their families.

One year of struggle to end the genocide. We will not stop we will not rest! London March for Palestine

Today is the 88th anniversary of the Battle of Cable Street, when thousands of East-Londoners stood alongside Jewish and Irish communities to drive out Oswald Mosley and his fascists. Never forget: working-class unity can defeat the far right for good.

Israel’s genocidal mayhem has given me a hideous understanding into the great horrors of the past. How could so many people who regard themselves as decent, humane, ‘moderate’ become complicit in unspeakable atrocities? It’s something I’ve always wondered. After all, only a tiny proportion of any society are actually sociopaths. Well, this great crime of our age offers the answers. The British media and political elites are full of people who aren’t even pretending. Their worldview is clear. Israelis are “us”. Palestinians are “them”. Accordingly, every Israeli life has meaning and value - it is inherently precious. A Palestinian life is worth virtually nothing. It is less than cheap. A bag of rats drowned in a lake is likely to elicit more sympathy. Violence against a single Israeli life - “us” - is therefore seen as intolerable and unbearable. Endless violence against countless Palestinians, on the other hand, doesn’t even produce a genuine emotional response. We’ve seen this tested to destruction. It doesn’t matter what the atrocity is. Newborns cooked alive in rubble, or left to suffocate and rot in bombed hospitals. 6 year olds shot in the head by snipers. Terrified children deliberately blown apart in their families’ cars by tanks, the paramedics sent to save them butchered, too. Entire family bloodlines exterminated in moments. Detainees gang raped. Bodies thrown from roofs. Civilians riddled with bullets while trying to get food. The worst imaginable atrocities committed over and over again, but because the victims are Palestinian, no outrage or horror or anguished demands that this must stop, whatever it takes. There is, at best, empty handwringing and platitudes, while our government continues to arm the perpetrators. But when an attack is launched against Israel in which not a single Israeli is killed, then there is wall to wall horror, disgust, outrage from our political and media elites. So if you’re wondering how so many who regarded themselves as decent, modest, upstanding, morally sophisticated citizens actively made themselves complicit in all the horrors of the past you read about in books - well, now you know. What mattered to them was who was “us” and who was “them”. I used to passionately disagree with these elites - I work, after all, in the British media, and have now for 13 years: even hold them in contempt. But it took this genocide to make me realise: I don’t live in the same moral universe as these people. They now disgust me: I am repulsed by them. It is what it is: my job is to be honest about my opinions, and I could pretend this isn’t how I feel, but for what moral reason? I’m not telling you because it’s cathartic, even though it is. It’s because what I feel is felt by many others, and that matters - a lot. Millions of people in every country, on every continent, are feeling this, and it gets stronger with every passing day, The consequences will be felt for many, many generations.

Strikes killing hundreds of women and children were applauded. An Iranian strike aimed at military bases and with no victims in Israel was called barbaric. Impossible not to see here a collapse of the Western mind, a wilful embrace of madness

The brave protestor at Labour conference demanding an end to all arms sales to Israel reminds me of the party member who was dragged out of conference in 2005 for protesting the war in Iraq. Who was on the right side of history?

Not satisfied with their ongoing genocide in Gaza, Israel wants more. Israel does not want peace, it wants war in the Middle East. Israel is out of control. End all arms sales to Israel. Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions now.

The smallest decisions reveal the biggest truths. Academy Award Winner Cillian Murphy stars in #SmallThingsLikeThese - in theaters November 8.

710 Palestinian newborn babies have been killed by Israeli forces during the ongoing war in Gaza. No parent should have to go through the agony and heartbreak of losing their child. We simply cannot accept the violence that Palestinian children continue to face as normal.

@flintoff11 @kylehogg22 You are a class act 👏

🚨 If you haven’t secured @oasis tickets then don’t panic, and certainly don’t buy on unofficial sites such as Viagogo & StubHub as these tickets will be cancelled. Twickets will have tickets available soon. Register to receive our newsletter and we’ll let you know.

@NatWest_Help is there a problem with the app? I'm trying to approve an important transaction and I can't access the app.

Very nice to see this doing the rounds again. When I was a little kid I used to go to Manchester and come back with the accent. Harry and Paul thought this was very funny so wrote the sketch. The timing was perfect. 😎

It offers an alternative to the narrative of division that is so rife at the minute. If you haven't already, give it a watch! (2/2) #FieldofDreams

@flintoff11 is a class act. Field of Dreams is a spark of light in dark times. Uplifting and genuine it's a warm hug of a show and hugely important. What they have done for those lads is phenomenal. (1/2)

Sally Nugent, "Did you know you would be kicked out if you rebelled?" Zarah Sultana, "No, I wasn't informed that was going to happen if I rebelled" SN, "How does that feel now then?" ZS, "I'm disappointed the party has taken the decision.. They should be able to tolerate a difference of opinion.. Actually a lot of the parliamentary Labour party want to scrap the two child benefit cap" SN, "You have just won a general election on a manifesto that did not contain scrapping the two child benefit cap" ZS, "The manifesto I stood on committed to reviewing universal credit and causes of poverty, and having an ambitious strategy to tackle poverty, which includes the two child benefit cap" "All eleven of the trade unions, support scrapping the two child benefit cap.. This is also supported by the TUC, which represents 6 million workers.. As well as Keir Starmer himself for his 2020 leadership bid.. Also charities like Save the Children.. The Archbishop of Canterbury." "The cap is seen as a key driver of child poverty in this country.. If the Labour party have a moral mission it should be to eradicate child poverty" SN, "Do you feel you have achieved anything?" ZS, "10,000 children live in avoidable poverty in my constituency.. 1/3 in are facing this reality.. Going to sleep hungry at night, learning on an empty stomach, going back to cold homes.. And long term impacts on health, well being and life expectancy" SN, "Chancellor Rachel Reeves says no unfunded commitments will be made, so you accept there just isn't the money?" ZS, "Fiscal responsibility at this moment in time means that 330,000 children are living in poverty.. We are the sixth largest economy in the world.. We have enough wealth" "UK billionaire wealth tripled to just under £700 billion under the Tories.. A 2% wealth tax on assets over £10 million would raise £24 billion.. Equalising Capital Gains with Income Rate thresholds you'd raise £16 billion.. When people say there isn't the money to fund this, they aren't looking in the right place"

The Israeli military is using British-made weapons in its horrifying assault on Gaza. Our new government must end this complicity and uphold the rights of the Palestinian people. That's why next week I will table an amendment to the King's Speech to ban arms sales to Israel.
