@EkpeUdoh I think good art helps you to understand something better. It helps you to see something you didn't see before. It makes you question what you thought you knew. #Ekpesbookclub

@EkpeUdoh It was really emotional for one of our veterans this year. He said he didn't realize how fresh the feelings still were. #Ekpesbookclub

@EkpeUdoh We've had quite a few Vietnam Veterans coming in the last few years, and they have said how much they enjoy sharing their stories because when they came home, no one wanted to hear their stories. It's so powerful. #ekpesbookclub

@NickMcCormick11 @EkpeUdoh I agree! I’m late to the game because I got behind. I loved the ending. I loved seeing them grow old together. #ekpesbookclub

@EkpeUdoh I think I would have left. It makes me think of a poem called “I’m not one of those who left this land” by Ahna Akmatova. It’s about fleeing Russia. But she stayed behind to fight. I don’t know if I would’ve had the courage to fight. #ekpesbookclub

@bentleyjmitch @katiegaede @EkpeUdoh And I think this book shows how hard it is to fight back when there’s a lot of bad propaganda. There’s so much fear in fighting against the propaganda that many do not or they end up, leaving to save their own lives. #ekpesbookclub

@bentleyjmitch @colleen_gaede @EkpeUdoh I teach high school English, and I agree completely. I have no worries for the future of our society because our teens are so great!#ekpesbookclub

@Myacketyack @Shelley0957 @EkpeUdoh It’s a different kind of fan base. I remember going to my first one and I was shocked at all of the pounding, but then I realized that’s just normal.#ekpesbookclub

@katiegaede @EkpeUdoh @bentleyjmitch I was reading that he wrote this more about Syria than about Ireland. He just took what happened in Aleppo and said it in Ireland instead.#ekpesbookclub

@bentleyjmitch @katiegaede @EkpeUdoh Perfectly said! I listened to a good chunk of it, and I preferred the audio over the actual book on this one. #ekpesbookclub

@colleen_gaede I did fill that too. I didn’t think it really pulled everything together, but it was really exciting with them trying to escape and seeing if she was going to have to leave anybody behind.#ekpesbookclub
