CONFESSION #030 — Why I Created This Page I created this page because I realised something. There are so many people experiencing the same things but nobody talks about them. Everyone posts the promotion. Everyone posts the new job. Everyone posts the “I’m excited to announce…” post. But what about the person crying after work? What about the person who is burnt out? What about the person who is scared to ask questions? What about the person who looks successful but is struggling? This page is for those stories too. So if you’re in the Big Four, worked in the Big Four, or are thinking about joining… Tell us your story. You don’t have to attach your name. You don’t have to pretend everything is okay. This is The Big Four Unfiltered.

CONFESSION #029 — If You’re Going Through It If you’re currently in a job that is draining you… I see you. If you’re smiling at work but crying when you get home… I see you. If you’re questioning your ability because of your work environment… I see you. Your job is not the measure of your worth.

CONFESSION #028 — Maybe Leaving Isn’t Failure I used to think leaving meant I couldn’t handle it. Now I see it differently. Sometimes leaving means you’ve finally admitted: “This isn’t working for me anymore.” And there’s strength in being honest about that.

CONFESSION #027 — I Don’t Know What Comes Next The truth? I don’t have everything figured out. I don’t know exactly what the next chapter looks like. And that’s scary. But I would rather be uncertain about my future than certain that I’m unhappy where I am.

CONFESSION #026 — The Job Wasn’t My Identity For a long time, my job felt like a huge part of who I was. Then I realised: I am more than my job title. More than my performance rating. More than my promotion. More than the company on my CV. A job is something I do. It isn’t everything I am.

CONFESSION #025 — I Learned A Lot Despite everything, I learned a lot. I became more confident professionally. I learned how businesses operate. I learned how to deal with difficult situations. I learned how to communicate. I learned how to work under pressure. And most importantly, I learned what I don’t want anymore.

CONFESSION #024 — I Didn’t Hate Everyone Leaving doesn’t mean I hated everyone. There were good people. People who helped me. People who supported me. People I genuinely appreciated. Sometimes you can appreciate the people and still know the environment isn’t right for you anymore.

CONFESSION #023 — Not Everyone Has The Same Experience And here’s something I’ve learned: Not everyone has a terrible Big Four experience. Some people genuinely love it. Some have amazing managers. Some grow incredibly fast. Some build lifelong friendships. And some people leave completely exhausted. Two people can work in the same company and have completely different experiences.

CONFESSION #022 — The Big Four Name Is Powerful Let’s be honest. The Big Four name carries weight. It looks good on your CV. It opens conversations. It gives you exposure. It can accelerate your career. But sometimes we become so attached to the name that we forget to ask: “Is this environment still good for me?”

CONFESSION #021 — I Chose Myself Eventually I realised something. Nobody was going to come and save me from a situation I was choosing to remain in. I had to make the decision myself. So I chose myself. I chose my peace. I chose my future. I chose to believe that there could be something better.

CONFESSION #020 — Leaving Was Scary People think resigning is easy when you’re unhappy. It’s not. You start thinking: “What if I don’t get another job?” “What if the next place is worse?” “What if I regret this?” “What if I fail?” Sometimes you know you need to leave and you’re still terrified to leave.

CONFESSION #019 — I Wanted My Life Back Eventually, it wasn’t even about getting a better job. I just wanted my life back. I wanted to finish work without feeling guilty. I wanted to have energy after work. I wanted to enjoy my weekends. I wanted to stop thinking about work when I wasn’t working. Sometimes that’s all you really want.

CONFESSION #018 — I Started Counting Down I knew things had gotten bad when I started counting down. Counting down to the weekend. Counting down to leave. Counting down to holidays. Counting down until I could finally leave the organisation. When you’re constantly counting down, maybe something needs to change.

CONFESSION #017 — The Work Never Really Finished The hardest part was knowing that finishing your work didn’t necessarily mean you were done. You finish one task. Another one comes. Finish that. Another meeting. Another request. Another deadline. Sometimes you don’t need motivation. You need the work to stop coming.

CONFESSION #016 — I Was Exhausted From Being “Professional” Sometimes I was angry. Sometimes I was frustrated. Sometimes I wanted to cry. But I still had to join the meeting and say: “Good morning everyone.” 😂 Corporate life will teach you how to be emotionally falling apart while still sounding professional.

CONFESSION #015 — I Started Questioning My Career At some point, I started asking myself: “Did I choose the wrong career?” Maybe I’m not good enough. Maybe I’m not smart enough. Maybe I’m not built for this. But now I think sometimes the problem isn’t that you’re incapable. Sometimes you’re simply in an environment that has drained you.

CONFESSION #014 — I Was Afraid of Making a Mistake I became afraid of making mistakes. And when you’re constantly afraid of making mistakes, you stop taking risks. You stop asking questions. You stop volunteering. You start second-guessing everything. That’s when I realised the environment was affecting more than just my work.

CONFESSION #013 — I Became Emotionally Disconnected Eventually, I stopped caring. Not because I was lazy. I was just exhausted. When you’ve been running on empty for too long, sometimes your brain just switches off. You stop getting excited. You stop looking forward to things. You just want to finish and go home.

CONFESSION #012 — I Kept Telling Myself “Just Manage It” I kept telling myself: “Just manage it.” “Everybody is going through it.” “You’re lucky to have a job.” “It will get better.” “Maybe you’re just being dramatic.” So I stayed. For longer than I probably should have.

CONFESSION #011 — I Looked Successful This is the funny thing about corporate jobs. You can look successful and still be miserable. Good company. Good title. Good CV. Good experience. And still wake up every morning wishing you didn’t have to go to work. Success is not always the same thing as happiness.
