1/ THREAD ON LATEST NORTHERN TERRITORY (AUSTRALIA) COVID/AIRBORNE ILLNESS GUIDANCE - April 17 2024 This is from an email to all NT healthcare staff. How come they are so proactive and, e.g. Queensland, is not? ➡️ N95s in all clinical areas.
3/ ➡️ HEPA air filters - STRONG emphasis ➡️ ALL inpatients get a four way PCR ➡️ All inpatients screened for respiratory symptoms every day ➡️ Close contacts get PCR
4/ This is great. Well done, Northern Territory, but it is exceptional. Why, four years into an airborne pandemic, when we have learned so much about airborne transmission, not just of COVID, but other infections too, is it still exceptional? Why? I have not the faintest idea.
5/ Either the Northern Territory is right or Queensland is right. Which is it? And why the postcode lottery on something so serious? If Northern Territory decides to be precautionary why is everyone else justified in not being so?
@YouAreLobbyLud Much harder to get staff filling shifts if they get sick- wise human resource management actually
@YouAreLobbyLud This whole thread is astounding and perhaps a reason for hope that science will prevail? #CovidIsNotOver #CovidIsAirborne #WearAMask #LongCovid
@YouAreLobbyLud The NT is right & I’m guessing it’s bc there are good people on the ground pushing for this. Pretty sure one senior person I know would be.
@YouAreLobbyLud I’m in the NT. We have a hard time attracting and retaining staff so the gov tries to look after them. Also a large amount of our elders are physically vulnerable, so they require a higher level of precautionary care. Prevention is better than cure
@YouAreLobbyLud It will be a result of key decision-makers and thought-leaders being adequately informed.
