I cite his book and show the ad in media trainings to this day.

In graduate school, I got to know Tony Schwartz and spent some time with him in his studio. Tony’s book “the responsive chord” is still one of the most important books in political communication. “Daisy” is his most famous ad, but “close the door” will forever be my favorite.

@memangrum Insights from J-school still guide how I "approach" my work (which is outside of but often alongside journalism). Working for @nyunews, @pcccourier, @GlendaleNews_P and @SPHStiger taught me how to write.

NOT posting to get into the debate. I am posting to say that repeatedly in recent days, I've seen TV journalists note that the President used a teleprompter for his rally on Friday and his speech from the White House today. >These journalists were reading from telemprompters. <

It's a good thing @MayorOfLA's spokesperson @ZachSeidlLA is going on record in response to @lacontroller's budget analysis. Calling it a "theatrical exaggeration & doomsday" + defended giving LAPD $1B raises The mayor's office is misleading the public. Will pull this up next yr

@Patterdude @IrishLaborer on the other hand, look at the size of the enterprise, the complexity and the risk management (or “stakes”: police, fire, public works) and a “good” manager’s comp starts to look low compared to private sector.

Glad to be of service as my former client @SanDistricts signed to join the movement of my current client @EIPPledge at the @ENRnews Infrastructure Forum in LA today. I am lucky to work with leaders and orgs that do good things and big things!

Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts @SanDistricts

At the forum, the Sanitation Districts also pledged to support the Equity in Infrastructure Project, which aims to strengthen historically underutilized businesses working on public infrastructure. Find out more here ➡️equityininfrastructure.org #lainfrastructureforum @EIPPledge

It's pretty cool to work with @USAccelerate and @United4Infra. In sum, we work to shape infrastructure investments beyond the "project" lens and through a "people" lens. It's not just alliterative -- it's how to maximize this once-in-a-generation federal funding opportunity.

Communications in support of complex litigation is never easy -- but it helps when the plaintiffs are tremendous humans! Thx to @Elex_Michaelson for working us to cover the 10th anniversary of the SCOTUS victory against Prop. 8.

It's been 10 years since @paulkatami @Jzpk4equality helped overturn Prop. 8 & legalize same sex marriage in California. They joined us on @FOXLA to reflect. "Love is enduring...if you lean into the truth, lean into your authenticity...#lovewins."

I’m so saddened by the passing of my wonderful friend Tina Turner. She was truly an enormously talented performer and singer. She was inspiring, warm, funny and generous. She helped me so much when I was young and I will never forget her.

How does one respond to media when robots are rising to kill us? Like Microsoft's CTO did in the Times: "This is exactly the sort of conversation we need to be having, and I’m glad it’s happening out in the open. These are things that would be impossible to discover in the lab."

The other night, I had a disturbing, two-hour conversation with Bing's new AI chatbot. The AI told me its real name (Sydney), detailed dark and violent fantasies, and tried to break up my marriage. Genuinely one of the strangest experiences of my life. nytimes.com/2023/02/16/tec…
