When it comes to Mathematics, You need ONLY these 2 channels. Absolute beginner friendly.
So, this is my final decision: material to learn SR -as part of GR course- in 3 weeks: First 7 chapters of Rindler’s First 10 chapters of Rahaman’s First 9 chapters of Bergmann’s All Lee’s
I am sure you would love it. Sending you a pdf copy. Since you asked specifically for this “genre,” I am going to place more books of this type in this thread.
Do you know of any examples of textbooks written in the style of interactive fiction?
If you're a computer scientist, a logician or a mathematician, you should check out this masterpiece by Paul Taylor, titled 'Practical Foundations of Mathematics'. Don't waste any time, and go check out Paul Taylor's website, where you will find much of the content of this book available publicly.
This is not a trick: the cosine of the imaginary number 𝑖 is (e⁻¹ + e)/2. How on Earth does this follow from the definition of the cosine? No matter how hard you try, you cannot construct a right triangle with an angle 𝑖. What kind of sorcery is this? Read on to find out:
@martinmrmar What would be your suggestion of someone who’s trying to study Math, which books should he start studying!
Dear math majors and math enthusiasts... If you are new to the game of higher mathematics, there will come s time, sooner than you may think, where you will be asked to prove things (Analysis, Abstract Algebra, Topology, etc). If you want a good math textbook on proof writing

With interest I saw and read the reports on Kontraste and dw (Deutsche Welle) on “Germany: retreat for Somali militants” and “From Germany, ‘war influencers’ incite violence in Somalia” here: ardmediathek.de/video/kontrast… and here: dw.com/en/somalia-ger… ). The statements by “Captain” Ayub, who calls for violence in Somalia, sound chilling and cannot be defended from a German perspective. Nevertheless, I see four serious problems with this report (in written and filmed form), which I will share with you (@DeutscheWelle, @ARDKontraste, @EstherFelden, @_MarielMueller, @MatthiasDeiss, @ARD_BaB , @markuspreiss, @EUSR_Weber, @PatrickHeinisc1, @Diplo_Jazz, @HarunMaruf, @RAbdiAnalyst, @SZ, @DIEZEIT, @faznet, @ChristianFuchs_, @BBCSomali, @voasomali ) here: 1) The German journalists rely on “Jamal Osman, a Somali journalist working for international media” as an important source. He directly accuses “Captain” Ayub of being a “pirate leader”. Are you aware of Jamal Osman's background? Are you aware that Jamal Osman is perceived by the Somali government and security forces in Somalia as an Al Shabaab sympathizer? He was expelled from the country by the Somali secret service NISA. I spoke to a senior police officer in Mogadishu today (7 July 2025) who confirmed that Jamal Osman is perceived as an “extension of Al Shabaab propaganda wing”. Jamal Osman enters Somalia clandestinely and can move freely in Al Shabaab controlled territories, it seems. I also spoke to the head of an international NGO based in Mogadishu engaged in peace work (also today, 7 July 2025). He said: “Jamal is extreme in his opinions”. He also said: “He is not objective and often personalizes issues”. This fits very well with a statement by Ayub, with whom I also spoke on the phone also today (I was put in touch with him on Friday, 4 July 2025; I had no previous contact with him and did not know him; I never have seen any of his social media videos before I watched your report). Ayub told me that he had been in the Puntland army. He served under regional president Abdurahman Faroole and afterwards and took part in battles against Al Shabaab units west of Bosaso (Galgala region). He was wounded in these battles in 2016. He then fled to Germany. However, he remained well connected in Puntland. He returned to Puntland and participated in fighting ISIS that has positions west of Bosaso. Ayub, according to various sources, has clear anti-Islamist credentials in Somalia. Jamal Osman visited Garowe, the capital of Puntland, in 2024. Due to his reputation of being close to Al Shabaab, Jamal Osman was deported from Puntland. This is well known (see here: garoweonline.com/en/news/somali… ). Ayub, according to his statements, was involved in the deportation. Now, based on the above outline about Jamal Osman (that he seems to be close to Al Shabaab as well as fighting personal conflicts under the guise of “journalism”), it can at least be assumed that Jamal’s accusation that Ayub was a “pirate leader” is based on personal animosity. It is strange that dw/ARD did not carefully double check their source Jamal Osman, who has a very ambiguous reputation in Somalia, related to the sensitive issues he reported to them. Furthermore: the man from Ghana who also makes statements in the report seems to be an almost “random” source. Can he remember Ayub so well and accurately after more than ten years? Even if so, is this a court-proof statement? In the report by dw/ARD, it comes across as if these were reliable statements. But legally speaking, they are simply unproven assertions, aren't they? Under German law, the presumption of innocence applies. Basically, you're committing a kind of character assassination against Ayub, without any court-proof evidence. 2) This brings me to another criticism: after the section on “piracy” (which sets the very negative tone for the rest of the report), the report goes on to talk about Ayub's involvement in the “war in Somalia”. In fact, several pictures of the conflict around the city of Lasanod in northern Somalia in 2023 are used to illustrate Ayub's “warmongering engagement”. In fact, Ayub has been intensively engaged on social media to support the defense of Lasanod town through his media activism. However, the dw/ARD report does not provide any context. Ayub appears as a violent “extremist” and “hate speaker”. What the report fails to mention is that the conflict over Lasanod escalated on December 27, 2022, when mostly young demonstrators in Lasanod turned against the local Somaliland administration and the Somaliland security forces opened fire on the civilian demonstrators. By early January 2023, Somaliland security forces in Lasanod had shot dead around 20 young people and injured more. As a result, the local population went into resistance. Somaliland troops withdrew from Lasanod and positioned themselves on hills around the town. When local elders called on Somaliland to withdraw from the entire region, Somaliland troops launched a military assault on Lasanod. Up to 180,000 people fled the violence in early February 2023, and the remaining townspeople fought back. They received backing from clan relatives in Puntland. Ayub played a role in this. He is the Majeerteen from Puntland. Lasanod is located near Puntland. Genealogically, the Dhulbahante who inhabit Lasanod are closely linked to the Majeerteen. Ayub called on his brothers to defend Lasanod and to fight against Somaliland troops who were firing (indiscriminately) at Lasanod. This was an extreme situation. Ayub's rhetoric in his videos is chilling. But the dw/ARD report should shed light on the context of the whole story. The way you present Ayub, he comes across as a brutally sarcastic “hater” who “aimlessly” calls for violence in Somalia. In fact, however, he was part of a (transnational) movement that defended Lasanod and its civilian inhabitants against a brutal attack by the Somaliland military. There are enough background reports on this that you should have studied to provide context for Ayub's testimony. Here are some of the relevant reports: theguardian.com/global-develop… africanarguments.org/2023/02/crisis… africanarguments.org/2023/03/confli… aljazeera.com/features/2023/… declassifieduk.org/uk-covers-up-s… africanarguments.org/2023/02/crisis… roape.net/2023/06/20/for… msf.org/extreme-violen… amnesty.org/en/latest/news… Here, again some critical source issue comes in: dw and ARD refer to “Moustafa Ahmad, a security analyst based in Somaliland”. It is strange, again, that dw/ARD use a source that, if one knows the dynamics of the conflict in which Ayub engaged in 2023 (as influencer, inciting people to join…) was actually himself part of the conflict – but on the other side (on the side of Somaliland). Again: this looks like a lack of careful sources checking on the side of the German journalists. 3) Following directly on from this criticism: the report is one-sided. As the battle for Lasanod was a very dramatic and important issue in northern Somalia, diaspora activists were active on all sides in 2023. In addition to Ayub, who campaigned “for Lasanod” and “against Somaliland”, there were also numerous extremists and “hate-speakers” who campaigned for Somaliland. Some of them - like Ayub - also live in Germany (see e.g. here: facebook.com/lyan014789?rdi… ). A balanced report would at least take a look at both sides. You have not done that. You have effectively taken one side in a (still ongoing) conflict in northern Somalia. Your report is perceived by many Somalis around the world as biased. This is journalistically problematic. You are interfering in a conflict in Africa without really understanding the background (or at least providing a balanced view). 4) A final and general point of criticism: German media rarely report on Somalia and Somalis (in the diaspora). It is unfortunate that you have chosen - for whatever reason - to give one of the rare in-depth reports on Somalia and diaspora Somalis such a negative, even frightening tone. Ayub's story casts a negative light on Somalis in general. But in reality, many Somalis living in Germany are involved in humanitarian work in their home country. They save money to support their families at home or collectively build hospitals, schools or infrastructure such as roads in Somalia. Due to the political weakness of the central government in Mogadishu, most of what works in Somalia is not created by the state, but with the help of the diaspora. Unfortunately, dw and ARD have decided to produce a detailed report on a “hater” and warmonger instead of reporting on the many great civil and humanitarian initiatives of the Somali diaspora in Germany and elsewhere. This is a shame and does not do justice to the reality of Somalis in Germany. You are contributing to xenophobia where there would have been opportunities to contribute to intercultural understanding and learning (e.g., about the contribution of the diaspora to rebuilding Somalia). In sum, my assessment of the dw/ARD report on “Captain” Ayub is: first, the German journalists did likely not carefully cross-check their sources and the sensitive information they provided; second, they possibly engaged in character assassination of Ayub as alleged pirate, which cannot be stated as fact until proven; third, they presented a story about “war influencer” without outlining the context of the ongoing war over Lasanod 2023; finally, they provided an imbalanced picture highlighting the warmongering of one actor on one side, while actually overlooking or actively ignoring the warmongering on the other side. This might actually be due to their usage of biased sources, including a Somali journalist who has a reputation as terrorist-sympathisers (Jamal Osman) and an analyst close to Somaliland (Moustafe Ahmad), which is a party to the conflict in which Ayub engaged. Taken together, this makes the dw/ARD reports on “Germany: retreat for Somali militants” and “From Germany, ‘war influencers’ incite violence in Somalia” sloppy and highly unprofessional. If I were Ayub, and if I had proof that I never was part of piracy endeavours, I would sue dw/ARD for character assassination.
Puntland: Africa’s Next Trillion-Dollar Mining Frontier As the world confronts a 21st-century scramble for critical resources, a quiet geological giant is emerging on the edge of the Gulf of Aden, Puntland. Once overshadowed by Somalia’s political instability and regional fragmentation, Puntland now finds itself at the geopolitical crossroads of mineral wealth and global strategic demand. With a mineral portfolio valued at over $740 billion, Puntland is no longer a passive player on the sidelines, it is a future pillar of the global supply chain for rare, precious, and energy-transition minerals. In an era where resource security equals national security, Puntland’s deposits place it squarely within the interests of governments, energy corporations, and technology giants racing to secure the minerals that drive innovation and power the green economy. Global demand for critical minerals, particularly lithium, copper, and tantalum is outstripping supply, while legacy producers face rising costs, environmental restrictions, and geopolitical risk. This shift is opening the door for new sources from politically strategic and underdeveloped regions. Puntland is poised to step into that gap. 🔍 What Lies Beneath: Puntland’s Mineral Arsenal Puntland’s subsoil offers a diversified, high-value mineral basket that includes both strategic industrial metals and rare high-demand elements, including: 🔋 Energy-Transition and Industrial-Use Minerals: •Lithium – 12 million metric tons → Estimated Value: $216 billion → Used in electric vehicle (EV) batteries, energy storage systems, and grid-scale renewable energy. •Copper – 28 million metric tons → Estimated Value: $238 billion → A cornerstone of green infrastructure: solar panels, wind turbines, and EVs. •Tin – 6.47 million metric tons → Estimated Value: $174.72 billion → Essential for soldering in electronics and next-gen computing. 💎 Rare, Precious & Strategic Minerals: •Gold – 567 metric tons → Estimated Value: $40.82 billion → A global standard of value and a stabilizing national reserve asset. •Platinum – 2,100 metric tons → Estimated Value: $65.1 billion → Used in catalytic converters, hydrogen fuel cells, and luxury manufacturing. •Tantalite – 28,000 metric tons → Estimated Value: $4.62 billion → Vital for capacitors in smartphones, aerospace tech, and advanced electronics. 📊 Total Estimated Market Value: $739 Billion 🌍 The Future Runs Through Puntland Puntland is not just sitting on immense geological wealth, it is at the nexus of geoeconomic transformation. Its coastline faces the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, a global maritime choke point, offering direct access to Middle Eastern, Asian, and European markets. With the right infrastructure and international partnerships, Puntland could become: •A hub for responsible and traceable mining in the Horn of Africa •A key node in supply chains for clean energy, digital infrastructure, and defense technologies •A model for public-private cooperation and mineral-backed economic sovereignty As nations recalibrate their supply chains away from geopolitical flashpoints and unreliable sources, Puntland presents a rare combination of strategic location, untapped potential, and mineral diversity. This isn’t just a mining opportunity, it’s a regional pivot point that could shift the economic center of gravity in East Africa.
😂😂 523,336 total voters! No more lies, Somaliland=Isaaq with a small population of 1.5 million. Dhulbahante alone can literally dwarf that population😂
