Startling data: 26 percent of unvaccinated people in Canada believe Russia invading Ukraine is justified. 2 percent of vaccinated people in Canada believe the same. More evidence antivaxx communities are evolving into general pro-authoritarian spaces. thestar.com/news/investiga…
The fact that #Shikara tanked and #KashmirFiles is breaking all records is significant. One tried to downplay the pain of the Kashmiri Hindus and white-washed the oppressors. #KashmirFiles told the unadulterated truth, as it happened. The audience chose truth over white-washing.

Kyiv is defiant. Life is hard & exhausting, jobs are vanishing, commutes take hours, streets are empty and attacks claim innocent lives each night. But many residents want to stay "I can't imagine life without Kyiv" one said. Some are even coming back. theguardian.com/world/2022/mar…
German word of the day is Wohlstandsverwahrlosung, a state of decay that results from having it too easy for too long, leading you to selfishly compare your own petty grievances &mediocre accomplishments to the pain &struggle of people who know the meaning of real problems.
Putin thought: -Ukraine would be easily defeated -Russian army was invincible -@ZelenskyyUa was a lightweight -World would fall for “denazification” rubbish -Europe’s need for Russian gas would keep it sidelined -U.S. couldn’t unite On each count, Putin was dead wrong.
My innocent father, Yalqun Rozi, is still suffering in China’s jail today. We will continue the fight for our father’s release until he is free and reunited with us. The efforts made to silence us will not keep us quite. #FreeUyghurs #FreeYalqunRozi
Deterrence happens in the mind of the adversary (and nowhere else).
Deterrence happens in the mind of the adversary (and nowhere else).
Islamists don't feel Ghazwa-E-Hind is an impossible dream - after all, what they see is a timid community barely able to even begin discussing what happened to their fellow brethren a full three decades later and that too with so much hesitancy
@DilliDurAst Govt schools do offer education in English, in fact they operate in min. 3 languages - Eng, Hindi & local Knowing Eng in foreign countries will get u jobs working in malls or hotels. China, Japan, Russia, Europe has shown Eng is not required to succeed even in international mkt.
@DilliDurAst That's what you think, if English proficiency was such a big deal lots of companies would just switch to Hindi.
@DilliDurAst Problem is not lack of "English" education, it is basic education. Basic 10 grades of education is enough to improve the overall employment and living conditions.Let's first try to get India educated. Language is just a mode to communicate. It is the education which is important
“The future is not inevitable,” says @TimothyDSnyder in this insightful conversation with @ezraklein to understand what’s behind Putin’s war and the very different path that Ukrainians have chosen more wisely for themselves. With a historical long view podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/tim…
India has a wheat surplus and has been looking to increase exports in the wake of the shortfall from Europe. After ensuring domestic food security reqs, this could/should also be an opportunity for Delhi to help its partners in Africa out...
Excellent piece about anti-anti-Putin left: unherd.com/2022/03/why-th…
Winston Churchill in WW2: “Hence we will not say that Greeks fight like heroes, but that heroes fight like Greeks.” Today it should be: Hence we will not say that Ukrainians fight like heroes, but that heroes fight like Ukrainians. #StandWithUkraine #SlavaUkraïni. Glory to 🇺🇦.
@RepRoKhanna You are a born appeaser and coward, a typical snowflake character. If there is a tough fight, your answer is, run away and hide in some "safe space", let the criminal win. The Ukrainians are made of sterner stuff. Freedom is won and kept by fighting, not by running away.
"Thomas Mann demanded 'militant humanism.' It was army that defeated Nazi ideology on the ground. Pseudo-pacifist correctness is only capable of supporting Ukrainian refugees, not soldiers who fight hard so that their people don't have to become refugees" krytyka.com/en/articles/th…
But Ukraine fought damn hard & ruined this plan. Putin read Western cowardice correctly, but he didn't expect public opinion would rally so quickly behind Ukraine and push hard for Western leaders to act. Ukraine is saving democracy and democracy is saving Ukraine.

In a way no western country could do, this Kenyan statement basically demolishes Putin's argument that Russia's historical grievances justify its recent actions.
Kenya makes strong statement opposing the undermining of the sovereignty & territorial integrity of #Ukraine during the emergency meeting of the #SecurityCouncil at 9pm on 21st February. See full statement delivered below 👇🏿
If you're gonna listen to any speech about #Ukraine 🇺🇦, let it be this one. The Kenya ambassador to the UNSC perfectly explains how people across Africa understand Ukraine, and what the Kremlin's acts of aggression mean in our post-colonial world.
@Chellaney That is backwards. The protestors were, quite deliberately, fostering US style polarization and blockading a country’s borders is not a peaceful protest.
@Marwadimaanush ;-) It's the little details that interest me. Imagining what went on behind the scenes to get this 1-line carve-out.
Akhilesh Yadav, Shashi Tharoor & assorted comedians are brave enough to regularly mock Hinduism but not brave enough to mock religions whose followers aren’t quite so passive. Such exemplary courage.
BOTH POINTS VALID. But the documentary demonstrated the reckless practices of the WVL : eg they allowed the film crew & commentator to stroll around. The scientific establishment --from Lancet & other magazines to Fauci-- made it possible for the PRC to get away with murder
Some duplicitous op-ed columnists-cum-news portal editors exaggerate the Chinese threat, sounding almost like a clone of Global Times, just to make the false point that the absence of “secularism” is the only reason why India can’t take on China. This is rock-bottom journalism.
@Zoarawar1 @NewYorker I'm not a supporter of Scottish independence. We have ruled the English for over 300 years and do not believe they are ready yet, or sufficiently capable, of ruling themselves.
People still hit me with: Man, why are you so critical of Pakistan? You some kind of Hindu nationalist? Yeah. That's why.
