Good illustration here that building new homes we desperately need, they must go with infrastructure - doctors, dentists, schools etc These are “immigrants” just from within the UK moving to developments in Horwich - wherever we’re from we need strong public services #r4today
We don’t just need houses - we need homes & that means building communities. We need to stop the blame game. Yes, we have to invest & build what we need for everyone in our country, not shrink our population to fit our insufficient housing & vandalised public services. #r4today
This interview is from BBC 3 Counties radio a day or two ago, but the point I’m being pressed on is exactly the same: But won’t we have build houses and infrastructure for refugees? Yes. We have to build housing & infrastructure for everyone. #r4today
@ZoeJardiniere I think you are missing a fundamental point. The focus of successive governments has been overwhelmingly on home ownership rather than housing. And it is not just the quantity of housing units that is the issue, it is also the quality. There is too much substandard housing.
@ZoeJardiniere They aren't 'extra' they are the minimum of what we need. We need homes for immigrants, redugees and of course 'locals' as we need all those people to make our country work.
@ZoeJardiniere Ironically.. The only times those right wingers care about environment. Is when they argue against building houses and savigreen spaces etc. Other times, they deny the climate crisis, Global warming. And they oppose policies like ULEZ, carbon tax etc.
