Gonna paint or draw this image, not sure which yet. Food is a drug. ( but it won’t get you killed or thrown in a cage ) People self medicate with it every day despite the negative health outcomes. Nobody lectures them about “choice.”

This is what a pipe can look like when we meet people. Providing clean ones lowers disease transmission. It just does. That’s why people who study public health suggest giving them out. It’s also more cost effective to keep someone healthy than to send them to the ER, by far.

For the people that think providing syringes is enabling, take a look at this. This man had been using this syringe for months, and when it finally broke he “welded” it back together with his lighter. I see this all the time with new people. All I do is enable good health.

So as a secondary distributor this is what I do all day. I basically just find people, see if they have needs and triage them to agencies, and then leave them with supplies. I’ve lost a lot of people to infection so Street Med is a big priority to me.

Was sitting in the methadone clinic parking lot while my friend was inside dosing at 9:58 ( they close at 10 ) There were so many cars flying into the parking lot it makes me wonder how many accidents are caused by that mad dash. There’s gotta be a better way.

Serious question. Do rehab facilities do street outreach? I feel like all the teams I’ve met fall into three categories. Harm Reduction, Street Medicine, and trafficking/churches.

Every time there’s a new scary drug ( crack, fentanyl, xylazine ) it just results in more people getting locked up. Our game plan is always more cages. It’s like we’re living in a sci-fi novel.

We used to call it heroin, then people started mixing in a little fentanyl, but we still called it heroin. Then we called it fentanyl, and now it has xylazine. But I don’t even know how to refer to it anymore. It’s just a mix of chemicals that has some sort of opioid mixed in.
