People are one hundred percent within their rights to not particularly like you, accept you, or mesh well with your personality -and you're well within yours to carry on with your life, in complete peace without giving a shit.
Young people: If they show clear signs early on or red flags-run. Go now. If their past shows consistent patterns & evidence of past abuse-run now. Don't second guess patterns of behavior. Or your gut. Run. You can't fix them. They won't change for you. That's not love. Run.
I talked for over an hour yesterday w a young lady who read my book, who was in tears, but also filled with an overwhelming amount of hope that there is so much more Life to live after experiencing hard things. Still BLOWS my mind that my shitty life experiences help ppl. 😭
Of the MANY paradoxical experiences I've had in Recovery from Addiction/Complex Childhood Trauma-the one I am most intrigued by is how comfortable I feel in my own skin as a result of embracing the discomfort of imperfection vs. failing miserably as a perfectionist.
Today, remember your worth and inherent value as a human. As a person who is healing and working hard every day. A person worth loving. A person who has people in their corner, who accept you and are glad you're here. Ignore the haters.

Things your inner peace & joy does not depend on: Them approving of you. Them acknowledging your progress. Them accepting who you are. Them apologizing to you. Them admitting they hurt you. Them taking responsibility for their role in your pain. Them understanding you.
Yes! But two things were true for me. There was a version of me who used the shit out of this sentiment to excuse my behaviors/choices. Taking ownership of my life meant holding myself accountable for how I treated myself & others. The key is developing compassion for yourself.

Constantly questioning whether you're too much or not enough is a quiet symptom of low self-worth. It's your mind grasping for validation. Peace comes when you stop measuring yourself through the eyes of others. Ground yourself in your own worth. It’s a powerful place to be.
