Until you change your thinking, everything will stay the same. Details may be different, but themes will be consistent. Use alcohol to run from pain? If you don’t change your thinking, you’ll just substitute the booze for something else. Changed thinking = changed life.

DAY 134: Owning Up is Cleansing My recovery became complete only after I had owned up - not to anyone else, but to myself - fully to the central role that my insecurities played in my relationship turbulence.
Part of my sobriety journey was healthfully processing and working through my failed relationship. Tim’s advice below is right in line with what I discovered about myself. Works beautifully for healing yourself from addiction too.
Marriage advice from a divorced guy: -Know who you are. -Know what you want. -Never be ashamed to ask for something that you need in a relationship. -Your partner can't read your mind, nor can you read hers. -Communicate directly and often. - Stop people pleasing
I've noticed something about irreligious people coming back to Christ. They always aligned with Christian values in their heart. They just had problems with the Church & the behavior of Christians. As society's illusions fell away, they realized there was truth in the old ways

@big_figgot I think "water" should be renamed to "Gatorade" because water is patriarchal AF. It allowed colonization and helped subjugate indigenous populations around the world. Fuck water, drink Gatorade. And Gatorade has electrolytes so it's practically seawater anyway.

Constantly consuming recovery content, packaged as entertainment, becomes counterintuitive at a certain point. Once a problem is solved it’s time to move on (IMHO). No need to beat a dead horse.
